If mObywatel Junior will not activate or open, first check that the mObywatel app is version 4.66.0 or later, then select Junior and set its six-digit PIN. If the problem is adding the school ID rather than opening Junior, retrieve the QR code or 32-character UUID from ZPE. A pupil without ZPE access should ask the school director or class teacher for login details.
First, identify where the process is failing
There are two separate tasks: opening the Junior profile and adding the school document. A problem with app access points to the app version, PIN or available biometric login. A problem adding the ID points to the ZPE QR code or UUID, or to the pupil’s ZPE access.

If Junior will not activate or open
- Update mObywatel. The Ministry of Digital Affairs’ Junior launch instructions, published 18 September 2025, specify app version 4.66.0 or later. If the installed version is older, update mObywatel through the phone’s app store.
- Select the Junior profile. Open mObywatel and choose the Junior version. The official setup instructions say Junior activation does not require a Trusted Profile.
- Create and confirm the PIN. Enter a six-digit PIN, then enter it again to confirm. The PIN is used to log in to the app, according to the official Junior activation screens.
- If biometric login is offered, try it only if it is already available on the device. The Ministry’s school ID information page says Junior supports biometric login. It does not provide recovery steps for a failed biometric prompt, so use the PIN if possible rather than assuming a biometric reset will fix the issue.
If Junior opens but the school ID will not add
- Sign in to ZPE and look for the school ID code. If it is not visible on the home page, open Applications > mLegitymacja. The Centre for Education Information gives this route in its 24 June 2026 guidance.
- Scan the QR code in Junior. Alternatively, enter the 32-character UUID. These are the code options listed in the Ministry’s setup instructions.
- If the pupil cannot access ZPE, ask the school director or class teacher for login details. This is the access route specified by the Centre for Education Information; do not try to bypass the school account.
If the PIN, biometrics or app still fail
The official instructions describe setup but do not give a general PIN-reset procedure or fixes for specific error messages. They also do not establish a guaranteed remedy for an app crash or authentication failure after the steps above. Consult the current official mObywatel help channel for persistent problems; do not assume that reinstalling the app, clearing its data or resetting a PIN will resolve them.

What the August 2026 certificate notice means
A Ministry of Digital Affairs notice published 18 June 2026 asked children using documents in mObywatel Junior to log in by 5 August 2026 so document certificates could be refreshed. That deadline has passed. The notice says an unrefreshed certificate expires and the document cannot be used; it does not say missing the deadline blocks Junior activation or login.
