First establish whether a reservation was actually completed. A hotel suggestion, itinerary, or generated answer in ChatGPT is not proof that a room is booked. Check for a confirmation or ask the hotel or booking provider named in the checkout flow to look up the reservation. If the transaction details are wrong, contact that provider; contact OpenAI Support separately if ChatGPT itself displayed an error or incorrect information.
Start by identifying what happened
“A booking made through ChatGPT” can describe more than one step in a travel search. You may have asked ChatGPT to find hotels, compared options, or received an itinerary without ever reserving a room. Or you may have continued from a ChatGPT experience to a hotel or booking provider’s checkout and entered guest and payment details. Those are different situations, and the next step depends on whether the provider has a reservation in its system.

OpenAI’s Radisson example describes users discovering and comparing properties, prices, and amenities in ChatGPT, then continuing to Radisson’s own website to complete a booking. OpenAI’s Booking.com case study describes travel discovery and planning tools, including suggestions and real-time availability and pricing in Booking.com’s database; it does not set out a universal ChatGPT reservation history or management process. The actual checkout page and the confirmation issued by the provider are therefore more useful than the wording of a ChatGPT conversation.

Check whether the reservation exists
Look for evidence from the checkout provider
Return to the site or app where you entered guest and payment information. Look for a completion screen, a reservation or itinerary number, or a confirmation from the hotel or booking provider. If you only asked ChatGPT to recommend hotels or assemble a plan, and never completed a provider checkout, treat the stay as unconfirmed until you make and verify a booking through an official flow.

Do not use a confident-sounding ChatGPT response as a substitute for a provider record. The available OpenAI examples describe particular travel experiences, not one reservation system shared by every hotel experience in ChatGPT. They do not establish that ChatGPT keeps a universal hotel booking history, or that every integration completes checkout in the same place.
Search the account used during checkout
- Search the email account you used in the booking flow for the hotel name, booking company, and terms such as “reservation,” “booking,” or “confirmation.”
- Check spam and junk folders, and confirm that you are looking in the same email account you entered at checkout.
- If the provider offers an account or app, sign in using the account associated with the booking and check its reservations page.
- If you find a confirmation, record its reservation number and the contact information for the provider shown on it.
These searches can help you locate a record, but a missing email alone does not prove that no reservation exists. Confirmation channels can vary by provider and integration. If you cannot find a message or account record, ask the provider to search its booking system rather than assuming either that the booking succeeded or that it failed.
Compare the reservation with what you intended
Use the provider’s confirmation or booking page, not just a ChatGPT summary, as the record to check. Review the details before you travel or request a change. A single date, guest-count, or property mismatch can mean you are looking at a different reservation than the one you intended.

- Hotel and location: Check the exact property name and location, especially if the hotel has multiple properties or similarly named locations.
- Stay dates: Verify check-in and check-out dates, including the year. Consider whether the dates shown match the local dates intended for the stay.
- Room and rate: Compare the room type and any rate conditions displayed in the confirmation.
- Rooms and guests: Check the number of rooms and guests against your plans.
- Guest and contact details: Confirm the name and contact information on the reservation.
- Price and currency: Compare the total and currency shown by the provider with what you expected. If they differ, ask the provider to explain the amount and the reservation terms.
- Booking status and reference: Note whether the provider shows the reservation as confirmed and keep its reservation number available when contacting support.
If something is wrong, contact the provider promptly. Whether a booking can be amended or cancelled depends on its terms; do not assume that ChatGPT can change a hotel reservation. OpenAI’s guidance about modifying existing reservations concerns its restaurant-reservation feature, not a general hotel policy, so it should not be used to infer what a hotel will allow.
Contact the hotel or booking provider
Use the party responsible for checkout
Start with the hotel or booking provider named on the confirmation, checkout page, or account record. If you used a hotel’s ChatGPT app and were sent to the hotel’s own site to finish booking, contact that hotel’s booking support. In the Radisson example published by OpenAI on October 7, 2026, discovery and comparison take place in ChatGPT while the customer completes the reservation on Radisson’s website.
If you booked through an intermediary, that provider may hold the booking record and be responsible for changes. If the hotel cannot locate a reservation that the intermediary says exists, contact the intermediary using its official site, app, or the contact details on your confirmation. Give it the booking reference and ask it to confirm the hotel and stay details. Keep the confirmation, payment record, and relevant messages so you can refer to the same transaction consistently.

Make the request specific
When you contact support, state whether you are trying to locate a missing reservation or correct a detail. Provide the guest name, stay dates, the email used at checkout, and any reservation number you have. For a disputed detail, identify exactly what the confirmation says and what you expected. Ask the provider to confirm whether a reservation exists, its current status, and the steps available under its terms. Avoid sending payment-card details or passwords in ordinary support messages.
If you have no reference number, say so and ask the provider to search by the other information you can safely provide. A provider may need to identify which account or checkout flow handled the transaction. The reviewed official materials do not define a single dispute timeline or resolution process for all hotel partners, so follow the instructions from the provider responsible for this particular booking.
If a payment appears but no confirmation arrives
A card entry by itself does not prove that a hotel reservation is confirmed. The official material described here does not establish a universal confirmation delay or explain how every partner handles pending authorizations, duplicate attempts, or delayed messages. Ask the hotel or booking provider to check its reservation record, and ask your payment processor to explain the status of the transaction.

Do not submit another booking simply because a confirmation email is missing. First ask whether the initial attempt produced a reservation and whether the payment entry represents a completed charge or another transaction status. If the provider confirms that no reservation exists while a charge remains, ask both the provider and your payment processor what resolution path applies to that transaction. Keep the dates, amount, currency, and any transaction reference available for that discussion, but do not publish or send full card details unless the provider directs you through a secure payment process.

Contact OpenAI Support if the problem is with ChatGPT itself—for example, it showed a technical error, displayed booking details incorrectly, or failed while you were using the ChatGPT portion of the flow. OpenAI’s support instructions recommend giving a clear description, steps to reproduce the issue, the date and time with time zone, browser or device and network details, and relevant screenshots.

- Describe what you were trying to do and what happened instead.
- List the steps that led to the error, including which part of the flow was in ChatGPT and which part, if any, was on the provider’s site or app.
- Include when it happened, with your time zone, plus the browser or device and network details requested by support.
- Attach relevant screenshots if they help show the interface problem, after checking that they do not expose sensitive information.
Do not include passwords, payment-card details, or other sensitive data in a support request. A report to OpenAI can help address an interface issue, but it does not establish, amend, or cancel a hotel reservation. Keep working with the hotel or booking provider about the transaction itself.
What the available examples do—and do not—show
OpenAI’s Radisson example documents a particular handoff from hotel discovery in ChatGPT to checkout on Radisson’s website. Its Booking.com case study describes travel planning and discovery capabilities, but neither example establishes a single booking workflow for all ChatGPT integrations. They also do not establish that every hotel reservation can be viewed or changed inside ChatGPT, how every provider handles missing confirmation messages, or what happens to every payment entry when checkout appears to fail.
For a specific stay, rely on the booking provider’s confirmation, account record, and support response. When the interface itself appears to have malfunctioned, report that to OpenAI as a separate issue and continue to verify the reservation with the party that handled checkout.
