How to Find a Concert or Tour Setlist Before the Show

Check official artist updates and compare recent performances from the same tour to preview a concert setlist. Past setlists are clues, not guarantees.

Check the artist’s official tour page and social accounts, then compare recent shows from the same tour on setlist.fm and, where available, Ticketmaster. These records can show what the artist has played—not guarantee what they will play at your upcoming concert. If it is a new tour with no completed dates, the setlist may simply be unknown.

Start with the most reliable clues

A setlist is the sequence of songs performed at a particular show. Before your concert, the most useful evidence is usually a combination of an official announcement for your date and records from recent performances on the same tour. Keep the distinction clear: an earlier concert’s songs are a preview, not the confirmed setlist for a future one.

Use sources in this order, adjusting for what is available:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Artist announcement: Check the artist’s official website and social accounts for a show-specific post, tour update, special format, or published setlist.
  2. Recent same-tour shows: Compare performances whose dates, venues, and tour context are visible. A repeated pattern is more informative than one isolated show.
  3. Venue or festival schedule: For a multi-act event, use its official running order to confirm the artist’s scheduled time. This helps with timing, not necessarily with the songs.
  4. Community setlist record: Use setlist.fm to review past performances, checking the entry’s date and venue and whether its information is sourced.
  5. Ticketmaster artist page: If the page has a setlist section, it can provide a quick view of recent tour performances.

The setlist.fm editing guidelines draw an important line between documenting a performance that happened and guessing what a future one will include. They state: “Assumed setlists, e.g. based on other concerts of the same tour are not allowed either.” In other words, a list recorded for an earlier date can be useful evidence about that past performance, but the same songs should not be presented as a verified list for a show that has not happened.

For the upcoming date itself, give priority to a post that clearly names that show and the information it confirms. A general tour announcement may establish that a run is underway, but it does not necessarily establish the songs at each stop. If there is no show-specific publication, describe what you find as a preview based on earlier performances.

How to look up the setlist step by step

1. Search with the artist and tour name

Search the artist’s name with terms such as “setlist” and the tour name. If the artist has a common name, verify that the result is the right person or group. Artist catalogs can distinguish performers with the same or similar names; on setlist.fm, check the artist identity as well as the venue and date. The Pearl Jam catalog, for example, shows how historical entries can be viewed in an artist-specific list.

Use the date, city, venue, and tour together to identify the performance you are looking at. A search result that says only the artist’s name and “setlist” may lead to an older show, a different tour, or a similarly named act. Before comparing songs, make sure the entry actually belongs to the artist and period you care about. If a page’s context is unclear, do not treat it as a close match for your concert.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Check official artist channels

Open the artist’s official tour page and current social accounts. Look for information tied to your specific date, rather than assuming that a general tour post applies to every stop. An artist may announce a special album-in-full performance, a changed format, or another tour update; any such announcement can affect how useful earlier setlists are as a preview.

Also check whether an announcement is actually about songs. A post giving a venue, doors time, or show schedule can help you plan, but it is not a setlist unless it names the songs or otherwise clearly publishes the performance order. A date-specific post is stronger evidence for that date than a general post about the tour, but it still only confirms the details it explicitly states.

Setlist.fm’s editing guidelines identify links to an artist’s official website or social channel as valid sources for setlist edits. That makes official channels especially useful when they publish a setlist or confirm a change. If an official post discusses only timing or format, use it for that point and keep song predictions separate.

3. Look for recent entries on Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster’s May 29, 2025 guide says an artist page may show up to five setlists from recent tours, with the venue, city, and performance date for each. The guide says the setlists appear below the artist’s About section and may be tucked into a dropdown. Its wording describes a feature, not a promise that every artist page will show five entries; check the specific page you are viewing. See Ticketmaster’s setlist guide.

Use the date, city, and venue to confirm which performance an entry represents. A list from a previous tour or a different event is less useful than a recent show from the current tour. If the page displays only some recent performances, treat those entries as a useful quick view, not a complete record of every show. Then compare them with the artist’s official posts or the fuller historical record on setlist.fm when you need more context.

The “up to five” figure is a feature description from Ticketmaster’s consumer guide, not a guarantee of five entries for every artist. An artist page may not show the section or may show fewer lists. If you cannot find it, use the other sources rather than assuming that a setlist has not been played or published.

4. Compare multiple same-tour performances on setlist.fm

On setlist.fm, open the artist’s past performances and compare the latest entries that match the current tour. Confirm each entry’s date and venue before using it. Then note songs that recur, songs that appear to change, and whether the performance seems to have a different format. Do not treat a song appearing in several past lists as proof it will be played at your show.

Comparing several dates gives you a more useful picture than selecting the newest list alone: it can show both recurring songs and variation. Keep the observations separate. For example, you can say that a song appears in the recent lists you checked, while also noting that the order or other songs differed. Do not turn a pattern into a certainty, and do not assume that an entry from a different tour is representative of the current one.

Setlist.fm says edits should have sources, including complete, uninterrupted audio or video and links to an artist’s official website or social channel. A new, incomplete, or uncorroborated entry deserves more caution than an entry with a clear source. Its guidelines explain both its source expectations and its rule against assumed future setlists. A record remains a record of the past performance; its presence on the site does not make it a confirmed advance announcement for your date.

5. For a festival or multi-act bill, check the running order

Look at the festival or venue website and official social accounts for the schedule. Find the specific artist’s scheduled time instead of inferring it from the event’s doors time, a ticket’s general start time, or the first act’s start. A running order can tell you when an artist is expected to play; it does not establish which songs will be performed.

For a bill with several performers, distinguish the event-wide schedule from the artist’s own slot. If the schedule gives a time only for doors or the first act, it does not answer when the headliner is expected onstage. Check whether the venue, festival, or artist has published an artist-specific time. If not, report that the schedule does not provide one rather than presenting the event start as the headliner’s time.

How to judge whether a setlist preview applies to your show

Before relying on a past setlist, compare its details with the event you plan to attend. The closer the match, the more useful it is as a preview—but no match makes it a guarantee.

What to check More useful evidence What to be cautious about
Show identity The same artist, with the date, city, and venue visible. A result for a different artist with the same or a similar name.
Tour context A recent performance identified with the current tour. An older tour or an entry with no clear connection to the upcoming run.
Event format A comparable event, such as a similar tour date rather than a festival appearance. A different format that may have a different schedule or performance structure.
Consistency Several recent lists show recurring songs, alongside any visible changes. One list being treated as a complete prediction for another date.
Source quality An official artist or venue announcement, or a past-show record with a stated source. An unsourced rumor or a purported future setlist based only on another show.
Time information A scheduled time stated for the specific artist by the artist, venue, or festival. Assuming that doors time or a general ticket start is the headliner’s start.

When comparing entries, focus on what is actually established: a past performance record says what was recorded for that date; repeated songs suggest a pattern; an official post can confirm information it explicitly states. Anything beyond that is a prediction.

There are two separate questions to answer: “What songs has the artist played recently?” and “What songs will they play at my show?” The first can be answered from past performances. The second is confirmed only if the artist or another official source publishes information specifically covering the upcoming show. Keeping those questions separate prevents a useful preview from being mistaken for a promise.

Recency matters, but it is not the only comparison. Prefer a recent entry from the current tour and a similar kind of event over an older list from another run. Then check whether the entries you compare actually agree. If the recent lists differ, the variation is part of the evidence: it means the artist has changed songs or the record differs between dates, so a single list is especially poor grounds for certainty.

Why the upcoming setlist may be unknown

If the tour has not started, there may be no completed performance from that tour to compare. In that case, the accurate answer is that the upcoming setlist is not yet known from past tour records. A previous tour can offer context, but it does not confirm what the artist will play now. Rehearsal rumors likewise are not confirmation unless the artist or another reliable official source publishes the information.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Once a tour is underway, earlier dates provide a stronger preview, especially when several recent shows share songs. Artists can still change songs, include guests, adjust encores, or vary the length of a set by city or event. The pattern helps you estimate what might happen; it cannot establish the future performance in advance.

There can also be a gap between an event happening and a complete, well-sourced record appearing. Setlist.fm’s guidelines require sources for edits, and incomplete or uncorroborated information should be treated cautiously. Do not fill that gap by copying another date’s songs and labeling them as confirmed. If nothing specific has been published for the upcoming show, say so plainly.

Know what concert time labels mean

Time labels describe different points in an event. Check which one a listing actually gives before deciding when the artist will appear.

  • Doors: The advertised time the venue opens to the public.
  • Scheduled artist start: The intended start time for a particular performer, when it is published.
  • Actual start: When the performance begins; a record may include an intro before the artist appears.
  • Actual end: When the performance ends after the final encore, subject to how the record treats an outro.

Setlist.fm distinguishes these fields in its guidelines, which also note that scheduled artist times can sometimes be found in social posts or venue and festival schedules. A ticket’s general start time may refer to the first act, so look for a time specifically attached to the artist you want to see.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These labels answer different planning questions. Doors tells you when the venue opens; a scheduled start is an intended time for one artist; actual start and end describe what was recorded after the show. An actual start listed for a past date should not be treated as the scheduled start for a future date. Likewise, an artist’s scheduled time can help you plan arrival but does not say anything about the song order.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Calling an earlier show’s list “the setlist” for your date: Label it as a previous performance or tour preview unless the artist has confirmed the upcoming songs.
  • Using an old entry without checking its context: Verify the date, venue, and tour before drawing comparisons.
  • Trusting an unsourced or incomplete list without corroboration: Prefer a sourced past-show record or an official announcement.
  • Confusing the event schedule with the performance order: A running order helps with timing, while a setlist names songs.
  • Assuming doors time is the headliner’s start: Find the artist-specific scheduled time if one is published.
  • Assuming every date in a tour has an identical set: Similar recent performances can suggest a pattern, but songs, guests, encores, and set length may vary.
  • Assuming a feature will appear on every artist page: Ticketmaster’s guide describes up to five recent-tour lists, not a guaranteed display for every artist.

A practical way to report what you find

If you are sharing the information with someone else, describe both the evidence and its limits. For example: “These are the songs listed for the artist’s recent show in [city] on [date]; they are a preview of the current tour, not a confirmed list for our concert.” That wording distinguishes a past record from a promise about the upcoming show.

If no current-tour performance or official show-specific announcement is available, say that no confirmed setlist has been published. That is more accurate and useful than presenting a guess as fact. If you have only found a previous tour’s songs, say that they are from a previous tour; do not imply that the list is current.

A clear summary can include the source, date, city, and event context of the past performance, followed by a short caveat that the upcoming artist may change the set. If you are reporting a scheduled time too, name the performer and identify it as a scheduled start rather than doors or the event’s general start. These small labels make it easier for readers to understand what the information does—and does not—confirm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out what songs an artist is playing on tour?

Check the artist’s official website and social accounts for announcements, then compare recent performances from the same tour on setlist.fm. Ticketmaster’s May 29, 2025 guide says some artist pages show up to five recent-tour setlists with venue, city, and date. Treat these past performances as a preview, not confirmation for your show.

Can I find the exact setlist before the concert?

Only if the artist or another official source has published information for that specific show. Otherwise, the upcoming setlist is not confirmed. A setlist from another tour date can suggest likely songs, but setlist.fm’s guidelines prohibit assumed future setlists based only on another concert.

What if the tour has not started yet?

There may be no completed performance from the current tour to use as a comparison. Check official artist channels for a show-specific announcement or special format. If none is available, say the setlist is unknown rather than treating an older tour’s list or a rehearsal rumor as confirmation.

How do I know whether a setlist.fm entry is reliable?

Check that the artist, date, venue, and tour context match, and look for a stated source or corroboration. Setlist.fm says edits require sources, with complete uninterrupted audio or video and official artist channels among its examples. Treat new, incomplete, or uncorroborated entries cautiously.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a concert start time mean the headliner’s set starts then?

Not necessarily. A ticket’s general start time can refer to the first act, while doors is when the venue opens. Look for a scheduled time specifically for the artist on the venue or festival schedule or the artist’s official channels.

The Bottom Line

Use official announcements for show-specific facts and compare recent performances from the same tour for a realistic preview. Verify the artist, date, venue, and event format, and label past setlists as past records—not guarantees about your concert.
