1. Check the plan’s real cost, not just the introductory price
Felix’s plan page shows monthly options with different data allowances and speed caps. Promotional prices may be limited by time or eligibility, and Felix warns that offers can change or be withdrawn. Compare the recurring price that applies after any discount period with your current bill before you submit the transfer.

Match the allowance to your actual use
Review the last two or three bills from your current provider and note your mobile data usage, hotspot use and international calling. A 25GB or 50GB plan may suit a phone used mainly on Wi-Fi, but reaching the allowance and its banked data can reduce service to up to 1.5Mbps. That is enough for basic messaging and light browsing but may make video, large downloads and app updates frustrating.
“Unlimited” removes the stated data allowance, not every restriction. Felix’s unlimited options remain speed-capped, and actual performance varies with your device, location, congestion and coverage. Unlimited+ also depends on both a compatible 5G handset and a 5G coverage area.
Check tethering, roaming and international use
Felix permits tethering to your personal devices, subject to its Fair Use Policy, but says its mobile plans are not intended to operate as a modem or replace home or office internet. If you need a permanent home connection, calculate that requirement separately rather than assuming an unlimited mobile plan is a substitute.
International calls, texts and roaming require separate products, and the destinations included can vary. Check the current destination list and charges if you regularly contact or visit people overseas.
Understand the subscription terms
Felix describes its plans as monthly subscriptions that renew until cancelled. It says cancellation has no exit fee and that a plan can be paused for up to 119 days. A seven-day Happiness Guarantee is described for eligible new customers who contact Felix within seven days of activation; read the eligibility and claim conditions before treating it as a trial.

2. Verify coverage where you live, work and travel
Felix says its service uses Vodafone’s network. A national network statement cannot establish that your apartment, workplace, commute or usual holiday route will work well. Use Felix’s coverage checker for each location that matters and consider indoor reception, not only an outdoor map result.
Check the places that expose weak coverage
- Your home, including the room where you normally make calls.
- Your workplace, school or other fixed daytime location.
- Your regular driving, rail or bus route.
- Locations where you rely on mobile data for maps, payments or emergency contact.
Felix notes that speed depends on the handset, location, network congestion and available coverage. A coverage result therefore indicates expected availability, not a guaranteed speed. If someone in your household already uses the same underlying network, their experience at your exact address can be a useful practical check, but it is not a guarantee for a different device or time of day.

eSIM requirements
Felix offers eSIM at no extra cost on its plans. Your phone must support eSIM, and activation requires Wi-Fi or a stable hotspot. Keep another way to connect to the internet available during setup; mobile data from the new line cannot be relied on before the eSIM is installed.
For an eSIM port, Felix’s instructions describe transferring the number first, then returning to the app to set up the eSIM. Confirm compatibility before ordering and do not remove the old SIM until the number transfer has completed.
Physical SIM requirements
If your handset cannot use eSIM or you prefer a removable card, Felix says the physical SIM is ordered through its app or website and activated in the Felix app after delivery. Keep the current provider’s SIM in the phone while waiting for the transfer. You will need access to the Felix app when the card arrives.

The available instructions do not establish compatibility for every handset model. Check your specific model’s eSIM support, SIM size and operating-system requirements before choosing.

Felix asks for details that match your current provider’s records. Postpaid customers use an account number or account ID. Prepaid customers use the account holder’s date of birth. A mismatch can delay or fail the request, so copy the information from your current bill or account portal rather than guessing.
Felix’s transfer flow sends a six-digit verification code by SMS to the current SIM. This is part of its process to protect against number fraud. Make sure that SIM can receive texts, that the phone has signal, and that you can read the code while completing the request.
5. Keep the old service active until the port is complete
Do not cancel your existing plan before starting the transfer. Leave the old SIM in the handset and keep the account active while Felix verifies the request and processes the port. Cancelling early can remove the number from the account or prevent you from receiving the verification SMS.
Felix says the old service remains usable during the switch. When the old SIM loses service, Felix treats that as an indication that the number has transferred; the old service is then automatically cancelled. Do not interpret the order confirmation alone as proof that the port is finished.

6. Know the published processing window and likely timing
Felix says most switches complete within a few minutes, usually in less than two hours, but the process can take up to three hours. Those are Felix’s own process estimates, not an independent service-level guarantee.

If the new service does not appear immediately after the old SIM loses service, restart the phone. A restart can prompt it to register on the new network, but it does not fix an unverified or rejected transfer.
7. Check what your current provider may still charge
Felix specifically warns that your current provider may charge a port-out fee. Ask that provider for an account-specific statement before switching, including:
- Any port-out or cancellation fee.
- Outstanding monthly charges or an unpaid balance.
- Remaining device repayments or handset instalments.
- Bundled services that could change price when the mobile line is removed.
- Any notice, credit or promotional conditions attached to your current plan.
These amounts depend on your existing contract and cannot be determined from Felix’s plan page. Request written confirmation of the final bill and keep it until the account is closed.

8. Follow this order for a low-risk number transfer
- Record your current usage and bill. Note data consumption, international use, device repayments and the account details Felix will request.
- Review Felix’s live plan terms. Confirm the recurring price after promotions, data allowance, speed cap, data-banking rules, Fair Use Policy and any international products you need.
- Run the coverage check. Test your home, work and regular travel locations, then consider whether your normal indoor and peak-time use is realistic.
- Confirm handset support. Choose eSIM only if the device supports it and you can provide Wi-Fi or a stable hotspot; otherwise order a physical SIM.
- Ask the current provider about final charges. Keep the account open while you obtain the answer.
- Start the transfer in Felix’s app or transfer flow. Enter the postpaid account number/account ID or the prepaid account holder’s date of birth exactly as recorded.
- Read the six-digit SMS code. Keep the old SIM inserted and enter the code sent to it. Do not discard or deactivate that SIM yet.
- Wait through the processing window. Allow up to three hours, taking the weekday and Saturday hours into account.
- Complete the new-line setup. For eSIM, return to the Felix app after the port and install the eSIM over Wi-Fi or a stable hotspot. For a physical SIM, insert the delivered card and activate it in the app.
- Test essential functions. Make a call, send an SMS, test mobile data and confirm that services using two-factor authentication can reach the transferred number.
- Check the old account. Once the old SIM has lost service and the new line works, verify the old provider shows the account as cancelled and that its final bill matches what you were told.
9. Troubleshoot the problems most likely to interrupt a switch
The verification SMS does not arrive
Check that the old SIM is still inserted, the handset has signal and the current account is active. If the SIM cannot receive messages, do not cancel the service or keep retrying with guessed details. Contact Felix before relying on a seamless transfer.
The transfer is rejected or stalls
Recheck whether you selected postpaid or prepaid and whether the account number, account ID or date of birth matches the current provider’s record. A mismatch is a common reason the authentication step cannot complete. Felix refers customers to troubleshooting guidance for failed transfers; use Felix support if the published process does not resolve the issue.
The old SIM still works after the expected period
Allow for the stated processing window and the next available processing period if you submitted outside the published hours. Do not cancel the old service manually while the port is unresolved, because that can jeopardise the number.
The new SIM or eSIM has no service
For eSIM, confirm that installation finished over Wi-Fi or a stable hotspot, then restart the phone. For a physical SIM, check that it is inserted correctly and activated in the Felix app. If the old SIM has lost service but the new line still does not register, contact Felix with the transfer details rather than starting a second request.
Data is slower than expected
Check whether a 25GB or 50GB plan has used both its included and banked data, which Felix says can reduce speeds to up to 1.5Mbps. On an unlimited plan, confirm the selected speed cap and remember that device capability, location, congestion and coverage affect actual performance. Unlimited+ requires both a compatible 5G handset and 5G coverage.
10. Use this final decision test
Felix is a plausible fit when its post-promotion monthly cost matches your budget, its coverage checker supports your important locations, your expected data use fits the allowance or speed cap, and your handset can use the SIM type you select. Delay the switch if you cannot receive the verification SMS, do not yet know your current provider’s final charges, or depend on mobile data as a full-time home-internet replacement.
Keep the old service active until the number has transferred, the new line can make calls and use data, and your essential SMS verification messages arrive. That sequence protects the number and gives you a clear point at which to resolve any billing or activation problem.
