Before buying AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS), check whether it can build and launch enough satellites, secure the permissions and spectrum needed to operate, turn partner and government relationships into dependable revenue, and finance the plan without excessive dilution. The company has reported revenue and technical demonstrations, but neither proves that a large, profitable service is operating. And without a dated share price and valuation analysis, there is no sound basis to call the stock cheap or expensive.
AST SpaceMobile is a high-risk network-deployment investment: the outcome depends on several milestones succeeding in sequence. Treat reported results as company-reported facts, targets as forecasts, and contract commitments as distinct from revenue already earned.

What should you check before buying ASTS stock?
Use a diligence checklist that separates what AST SpaceMobile has achieved from what it still needs to do. The key questions are whether the network can be deployed on schedule, whether permissions cover the intended service, whether commercial relationships produce recognized revenue and cash, and whether the company can fund execution on acceptable terms.

- Deployment: How many satellites have actually launched, reached orbit, and been commissioned for service?
- Service evidence: What was demonstrated, under what conditions, and how does it compare with the service customers would experience?
- Regulatory access: What do the relevant authorizations permit, and what conditions or geographic limits apply?
- Commercial conversion: How much revenue is recognized, what generated it, and what must happen before partners pay future amounts?
- Funding and dilution: What cash is available for operations, what spending remains, and how could debt or new shares affect existing shareholders?
- Valuation: What dated price and diluted share count are you using, and what business assumptions would justify that value?
Recheck these points against the newest company filings and regulatory decisions available when making an investment decision. The figures below are tied to AST SpaceMobile’s FY2025 results and Q1 2026 update; they are not a live account of subsequent launches, finances, or share price.

Can AST SpaceMobile deploy the network on schedule?
AST SpaceMobile’s business depends on a constellation of satellites, so a launch target is not the same as an operating network. Satellites must be manufactured, launched, successfully deployed, commissioned, and integrated into a service. Delays at any stage can push back coverage and revenue while the company continues to incur costs.
In its FY2025 results, AST SpaceMobile set a target of 45–60 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026. Its Q1 2026 update later described an approximate 45-satellite target. These are company targets, not confirmed outcomes. To assess progress, compare them with subsequent launch records and company disclosures about successful deployment and commissioning; a satellite in orbit does not by itself establish that it is ready to serve customers.
Look for evidence about production cadence, launch-provider availability, commissioning, and any failures or schedule changes. Also ask whether the planned fleet is sufficient for the service coverage and capacity being promised. A milestone count matters most when it is tied to what the satellites can actually deliver.
What has been demonstrated, and what remains unproven?
The company describes a system intended to connect ordinary, unmodified mobile phones through satellite-to-phone links. Its annual report describes voice and video calls using unmodified phones. That supports the claim that certain direct-to-device demonstrations have been performed; it does not, by itself, establish routine commercial performance across locations and conditions.

In Q1 2026 company materials, AST SpaceMobile reported a 98.9 Mbps peak data speed from an in-orbit Block 1 satellite. “Peak” is important: a single best-case result does not tell an investor the typical speed, service availability, coverage continuity, capacity per satellite, or experience when many people connect. Nor does a speed demonstration establish profitable economics.
When evaluating a demonstration, look for the test’s geography, phone and frequency bands, satellite configuration, duration, and measurement method. Then look for service-level evidence: how often connections work, how performance varies, how many users can be served, and whether the service remains useful as coverage expands. The available company disclosures cited here do not establish those broader operating results.
Do the regulatory permissions and spectrum rights support the plan?
Direct-to-device service requires more than a satellite in orbit: the company and its mobile network operator partners need the applicable regulatory permissions and spectrum access, with interference and country-specific rules addressed. A grant in one jurisdiction does not automatically authorize service everywhere, and permission to operate does not prove that commercial service is immediately available.
AST SpaceMobile’s Q1 2026 update said the FCC granted authorization for U.S. commercial service under Supplemental Coverage from Space using a planned network of up to 248 satellites. The scope, conditions, and authorized footprint of the actual FCC order matter. Do not read the company’s summary as proof of continuous nationwide broadband or as permission for service in other countries.

For each market the company expects to serve, check the relevant regulator’s decisions, the spectrum arrangements with mobile operators, any operating conditions, and the status of foreign approvals. Pending applications and partner access are different from final authorizations and usable spectrum.
How does AST SpaceMobile make money, and what do its reported figures mean?
AST SpaceMobile intends to provide satellite connectivity through mobile network operator partners rather than sell satellite phones directly to consumers. Its FY2025 revenue also included gateway deliveries and U.S. government work, so reported revenue should not be mistaken for recurring consumer service revenue.
| Reported item | What the figure describes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 revenue: $70.9 million | Company-reported revenue for the year ended December 31, 2025, including gateway deliveries and U.S. government work. | It is not evidence that a scaled, recurring satellite-to-phone service is already generating revenue at comparable levels. |
| More than $1.2 billion in aggregate contracted partner revenue commitments | Company-reported commitments from commercial partners. | It is not revenue already recognized, cash already received, or guaranteed profit. Future payments can depend on contractual conditions and milestones. |
| FY2026 revenue guidance: $150 million–$200 million | Company guidance in its Q1 2026 update, attributed primarily to mobile network partners and the U.S. Government. | It is a forecast, not a reported result, and is not described as service revenue alone. |
Read the filings for the timing and conditions attached to partner payments, contract duration, termination rights, and revenue recognition. Track revenue by source over time: gateway deliveries, government work, partner prepayments, and recurring service revenue have different implications for the durability of the business. Also watch customer concentration; a large commitment from a small number of counterparties is not the same as broad, diversified demand.
How much capital might execution require, and could ASTS dilute shareholders?
Satellite manufacturing, launches, ground infrastructure, and service expansion require substantial capital. Cash on a balance sheet can support deployment, but a headline liquidity figure alone cannot show how long it will last. The answer depends on cash burn, capital spending, restricted funds, debt obligations, and the pace of future investment.
Rank #4
AST SpaceMobile’s FY2025 results reported more than $3.9 billion of cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash, and liquidity on a pro forma basis at December 31, 2025. The same results summarized a February 2026 convertible senior-note offering with $1.075 billion in gross proceeds, a 2.250% coupon, and an effective conversion price of $116.30. These dated figures are not a current cash-runway calculation, and gross proceeds are not the same as unrestricted cash remaining after expenses or subsequent spending.
Use the latest balance sheet and cash-flow statement to reconcile unrestricted and restricted cash, operating cash use, capital expenditures, debt, and any available financing facilities. Then review the capital structure, including share classes and potential share issuance. Convertible notes can create dilution if converted under their terms; raising equity can also increase the share count. The effect on an existing investor depends on the actual terms and number of shares issued, so do not infer a precise dilution amount from the offering’s effective conversion price alone.

Use observable results rather than promotional language. A stronger case would require evidence that execution is progressing and that progress is translating into service and finances—not just isolated technical achievements.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEvidence that could strengthen the case
- Satellites are launched and commissioned at a pace consistent with revised deployment plans.
- Regulatory permissions and spectrum arrangements support the intended service in specific markets.
- Commercial service is activated, with disclosed evidence of coverage, reliability, capacity, and customer use.
- Partner commitments and government awards convert into payments and recognized revenue, with recurring service revenue becoming visible.
- Cash use and financing needs remain manageable relative to the remaining deployment work.
Evidence that could weaken the case
- Launches, manufacturing, or commissioning fall behind company targets, or failures delay service.
- Regulatory conditions or spectrum coordination limit where or how the network can operate.
- Demonstrated performance does not translate into dependable service, meaningful capacity, or customer demand.
- Commitments do not convert into cash or recognized revenue on expected terms, or revenue remains concentrated in non-recurring work.
- Cash burn, debt, or new equity needs rise enough to increase financing risk or materially dilute shareholders.
AST SpaceMobile’s CEO Abel Avellan said in the company’s March 2, 2026 release: “In 2026, we expect to scale our space-based direct-to-device network from initial commercial activation toward the start of broader commercial service.” This is management’s expectation. Investors should assess it against later operating disclosures rather than treat it as an independently verified forecast.

Is AST SpaceMobile stock worth buying at its current price?
That cannot be answered from operating milestones alone. A promising technology or growing contract total does not establish that a stock is attractively valued. The available figures here do not include a timestamped share price or the share-count basis needed to calculate a current market capitalization, so they are insufficient to label ASTS cheap, expensive, or fairly valued.
To assess valuation, start with a dated quote and an appropriate diluted share count, including the potential effect of convertible debt and other share issuance. Then make explicit assumptions about when service can scale, likely revenue, margins, capital requirements, and dilution. A revenue scenario can help frame the question, but it remains uncertain—particularly for a business whose network deployment and commercial economics are still developing.
For a personal decision, consider whether the possibility of delays, financing pressure, regulatory limits, or a weaker-than-expected service outcome fits your risk tolerance. The investment case should be revisited as actual deployment, service, revenue, and financing evidence changes.
