1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBefore buying a multi-function kitchen appliance, identify the jobs you actually need it to do, then verify its performance, usable capacity, attachments, size, cleaning demands, safety features, and support. The term can describe very different products: a multi-cooker mainly cooks, a food processor mainly prepares ingredients, and some blender hybrids or cooking food processors combine both. Their functions are not interchangeable, so compare models within the appliance class that fits your routine.
1. Start with the jobs you need it to do
Write down the tasks you perform regularly—such as chopping, slicing, blending, steaming, slow cooking, or pressure cooking—and check the exact model’s official description and manual for each one. Confirm whether the required bowl, blade, disc, jar, or other attachment is included or sold separately. A function name on a control panel does not establish how well the appliance performs that task.

For example, a multi-cooker and a food processor may both offer several modes, but their core jobs differ. Consumer Reports evaluates multi-cooker cooking modes separately from food-processor tasks such as slicing and shredding. A combination machine can be useful if its specific functions match your needs; a longer feature list alone is not a reason to buy it.
2. Match capacity to your usual batches
Capacity figures are useful for narrowing options, but they are not the same as usable capacity. Consumer Reports describes multi-cooker capacities as typically 4 to 8 quarts, with 6 quarts common among the models it tested in 2022. Its food-processor guide describes claimed capacities of about 7 to 16 cups and says actual volumes often vary by 1 or 2 cups. These are category ranges, not recommendations for every household.
#1 Best Overall

- COOK UP TO 2X FASTER*: HyperHeat technology builds pressure quickly to speed up cooking time compared to traditional methods, helping you get meals on the table faster. *Vs traditional slow cooking.
- SEAR AND SAUTÉ IN ONE POT: Skip extra pans—use the large cooking surface to sear meats and sauté ingredients directly in the pot for deeper flavor and fewer dishes.
- SERVE DIRECTLY FROM THE POT: The removable SimpliServe pot goes from cooker to table, making it easy to host, meal prep without transferring food, or serve meals for family dinners.
- FAMILY-SIZED 6.5 QT CAPACITY: Cook for a crowd with a large-capacity pot that fits up to a 4-lb chicken or 5-lb roast, feeding 8–10 people.
CHOICE offers a general household guide of 3–4.5 L for one or two people and 5–8 L for larger households or those who want leftovers. Treat these as starting points, not universal rules: batch size, the foods you cook, and how often you want to run the appliance matter too.
Check the manual for minimum and maximum fill lines and any restrictions. This is particularly important for pressure cooking and for foods that expand or foam; the pot’s stated capacity may exceed the amount you can safely use for a particular recipe.
3. Measure the appliance and its accessories
Measure the counter space and cabinet clearance where you plan to use the appliance. Allow room to open or remove the lid, lift out the bowl or pot, and operate controls without reaching over hot steam. Then consider where you will keep the accessories: extra jars, blades, discs, lids, and containers can take up substantial storage space.

- STAINLESS STEEL EXTERIOR: A stainless-steel exterior provides a beautiful aesthetic to any kitchen, taking your party hosting to the next level. And elegant French doors open with a single pull; interior light allows you to monitor food
For blenders, Consumer Reports suggests that a full-size model under 17 inches tall will fit under kitchen cabinets in many kitchens, but clearances vary. Measure your own space and check the appliance’s actual height rather than relying on that general guide.
4. Inspect the vessel, lid, and materials
For a multi-cooker, look closely at the removable pot’s shape and construction. Consumer Reports notes that a round pot may be less convenient than an oblong one for larger cuts of food. Consider whether the pot’s shape suits the meals you make, and check the manufacturer’s care instructions for its coating or material.
CHOICE discusses trade-offs between nonstick and stainless-steel bowls, including care and cleaning. Verify the material and cleaning guidance for the exact model and regional version you are considering; product descriptions may not establish how a surface should be maintained.

A pressure-cooking lid locks during operation, so it cannot be opened to check food partway through a cook. Make sure you are comfortable with the locking design and the way the appliance releases steam before choosing it.
5. For pressure cooking, review safety and steam release
Read the current model-specific manual before buying if you plan to pressure cook. Check how the lid locks, how pressure is released, where the fill indicators are, and what the controls do. CHOICE recommends a locking lid with more than one locking mechanism and discusses automatic and manual steam release; follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the model you buy.
- Know how to release steam safely and where hot steam will vent.
- Keep valves clear of food residue, as directed by the manual.
- Follow fill limits, including any lower limits for foods that expand or foam.
- Check whether the controls let you operate the release without placing your hand in the steam path.
These are practical consumer checks, not a substitute for local requirements or the appliance’s instructions.

6. Check controls and cleaning before purchase
Controls should be understandable at a glance. CHOICE recommends clear written labels, indicator lights, a readable display, and an arrangement that lets you operate steam release safely. If you cannot tell what a control does from the display or manual, consider whether that will be frustrating during everyday use.
Look at how the appliance comes apart and goes back together. Check the manual to see which parts are dishwasher-safe rather than assuming that removable parts can go in a dishwasher. For a food processor, also consider whether blades and discs can be stored safely. Pressure-cooker lids and valves may need careful cleaning after use.

7. Compare performance on the tasks you care about
Compare products within the same appliance class, using evidence for the jobs you expect to perform. Consumer Reports describes evaluating multi-cookers on modes such as rice cooking, steaming vegetables, slow cooking, and sautéing. Its food-processor and chopper evaluations include slicing, shredding, chopping, puréeing, and noise; its blender evaluations include icy drinks, ice crushing, puréeing, convenience, durability, and noise.

Not every test or result will apply to your use. Prioritize the tasks you do often, and look for comparable evidence on those tasks rather than assuming a model with more modes will be better. For blenders, wattage alone is not a reliable performance shortcut: Consumer Reports notes that blade assembly design and container shape also matter.
8. Check warranty, service, and replacement parts
Read the written warranty for the precise model and country where you will buy it. Check the coverage period, exclusions, proof-of-purchase requirements, and who handles repairs. Warranty scope can differ by product and geography, as Magimix’s published terms illustrate.
Also check whether likely replacement parts—such as bowls, seals, blades, discs, or lids—are available for that exact model, and what they cost. Bajaj’s buying guidance recommends checking after-sales service and replaceable parts. A low purchase price may be less attractive if an essential attachment or replacement part is difficult to obtain.

Magimix describes its Cook Expert as an all-in-one appliance with functions including food processing, blending, mixing, steaming, slow cooking, soup making, warming, proving, and weighing. The manufacturer says it serves between 2 and 12 people; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently validated capacity recommendation. Confirm the regional version and included accessories, and look for independent task-based testing if you need to compare performance.
