Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBefore buying a horror game remaster on PC, check its current system requirements, recent compatibility updates, the changes made to the original, and the controls it supports. Treat the store page as the starting point—not proof of how well the game will run on your particular hardware.
Check the current PC requirements first
Open the game’s live store listing and compare its minimum and recommended specifications with your PC. Check the operating system, processor, graphics hardware, memory and storage requirements, along with any stated display or peripheral needs. Requirements can change, so use the current listing rather than an old guide or a page for another edition.

Capcom’s support guidance for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster says that falling below minimum requirements may lead to poor framerate or the game not running, and notes a support limitation for PCs below those requirements. That is publisher guidance for that game’s troubleshooting context, not a measured result for every remaster. Read Capcom’s troubleshooting guide.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Read dated compatibility and update notes
Look for recent announcements or update notes on the store page. A dated compatibility note can be more useful than a broad claim that a game supports Windows, because it tells you what the publisher or listing says about a particular update.
#1 Best Overall

- Frenetic Combat: 360 degree cover, evolutionary slow-mo modes, phasing portal systems and best in class mech combat

For example, the Steam listing for Resident Evil HD REMASTER reports a September 28, 2026 update that verified Windows 11 compatibility and included miscellaneous bug fixes. That is information about this game and that listed update; it does not guarantee support for other titles or future versions. Check the listing and its update information.
Find out what the remaster actually changes
“Remastered” does not describe one fixed set of upgrades. Compare the store page’s specific claims with what you value in a horror game: image quality, display options, sound, or the feel of the controls. If the listing is vague about a feature that matters to you, do not assume it is included.

Capcom’s Resident Evil HD REMASTER listing describes higher-resolution environments, widescreen support, remastered audio, and a choice between original and alternate control schemes. These are features documented for that product, not a checklist of features every remaster provides.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchConfirm input support before buying a controller
Check whether the game supports keyboard and mouse, a gamepad, or both, and whether the listing names a preferred controller standard. The Resident Evil HD REMASTER listing says keyboard and mouse are supported and recommends an Xbox 360 PC-compatible or comparable XInput-based gamepad. For this game, a compatible controller is optional rather than a stated requirement. Do not buy an accessory on the assumption that another horror remaster has the same input support.

- All five episodes of Season One and - for the first time - special episode '400 Days' available on disc

Use performance evidence that matches your PC
Minimum and recommended requirements are compatibility guidance, not frame-rate benchmarks. The sources cited here do not establish performance across PC configurations or provide independent benchmark results for these remasters. If smooth performance is a deciding factor, look for recent testing of the exact game on hardware close to yours.
- Match the tested processor and graphics card to your own, rather than relying on a test with a substantially different system.
- Check the game version and graphics settings used in the test; patches and settings can affect the result.
- Give more weight to evidence that reports its configuration and method than to an unqualified claim that a game “runs well.”
Compare editions using the same questions
If you are choosing between a remaster and another edition, or comparing two remasters, evaluate both against the same criteria:

- ADULT CARD GAME FOR GAME NIGHT - Don’t Get Stabbed! is an adult party game where you get to kill your family and friends! ... for pretend of course. It’s inspired by horror movies of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but is light-hearted enough for everyone to enjoy. The ultimate Halloween game!
- COMPETITIVE & EASY TO LEARN - This entertaining game is playable for 3 to 5 players. One person is elected as the killer (whoever is the most evil in your group) and the rest are victims. The killer wins by killing all the victims. The victims win by escaping.
- HILARIOUS & REPLAYABLE- The average player will love this game for its gameplay! The horror fan will love the art on many of these cards which features classic horror movie tropes. There is tons of fun in playing this game and in its artwork.
- ADULT PARTY GAME – It may look cute, but like most horror movies it has topics you probably don’t want your children knowing about. For ages 18+.
- WHAT’S IN THE BOX?! – Included in the box are 64 Main Deck Cards and 13 Car Deck Cards printed on premium glossy playing cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches), for a grand total of 77 cards. Also included is one instruction booklet.
- Current PC requirements and operating-system compatibility notes.
- Documented visual and display changes.
- Documented audio changes.
- Control schemes and keyboard, mouse, and controller support.
- Dated fixes or compatibility updates.
- Performance evidence tested on hardware and a game version relevant to your setup.
These checks help you identify what each listing establishes and what remains uncertain. They do not determine which edition is best across horror games generally; that depends on the particular game and the features you care about.
