Let Claude handle semantic judgment and drafting; let n8n and ordinary code handle facts that can be read, checked, or updated from authoritative data. In a content workflow described by B2B growth marketer Cécile Maindron, Claude classifies SEO keywords and writes pages, while n8n coordinates review and code checks repository details before anything is published. It is a practitioner’s account of a monthly workflow for Funnelsight, a demo SaaS—not a controlled comparison or a guarantee that the reported savings will transfer to another project.
How the workflow decides what gets written
Maindron’s October 6, 2026 DEV Community case study starts with monthly SEO keyword rows in Google Sheets. A scheduled n8n workflow reads the rows and processes one keyword at a time. Claude classifies each as create, skip, or duplicate; only a create decision moves on to page drafting.

For a page, Claude returns a fixed set of sections, including the full HTML and a one-line memory entry. An n8n parser extracts the fields and checks whether the response matches the expected contract. The workflow then routes the page through two distinct human decisions before publication.

The dividing rule in Maindron’s design is: “anything that can be computed from a real source is computed by code.” The model handles the judgment-heavy and generative work; code handles repeatable operations whose inputs and expected results can be verified.
#1 Best Overall
| Task | Owner in this workflow | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Decide whether a keyword merits a new page, should be skipped, or duplicates an existing topic | Claude | This requires semantic judgment rather than merely copying a known repository value. |
| Draft the page content | Claude | Writing is the generative task in the pipeline. |
| Read links actually present in the generated HTML | n8n and code | The source of truth is the HTML file, not the model’s recollection of it. |
| Check for missing reciprocal links, update counters and sitemap entries, and sort resource cards | n8n and code | These are state updates that can be derived from the repository and applied consistently. |
| Parse the response and enforce filename, section, and link requirements | n8n and code | Deterministic checks can reject results that violate an explicit contract. |
This is a boundary chosen for one workflow, not a claim that every editorial decision can be made deterministic. A team should keep a task with the model when it genuinely needs interpretation, and move it to code when it can be reliably calculated from data the workflow can inspect.
Where review happens before publication
SEO review
Each created page goes to an SEO specialist through a Slack send-and-wait form. The specialist reviews editorial quality and can approve or return it with feedback. Maindron found that the form handled several items together; processing one keyword per loop iteration gave each page its own review rather than bundling decisions.
Developer review
After SEO approval, n8n creates a GitHub branch, commits the page and supporting files, and opens a pull request. A developer reviews the proposed repository changes and merges them or requests changes. Publication then proceeds to GitHub and Cloudflare Pages. If feedback comes back, the workflow labels it as editorial or technical so Claude receives it with the appropriate context.

These are separate gates: SEO approval is not a substitute for a developer’s review of the code and publishing changes.
What the workflow validates before people review a page
The parser checks the output against requirements that can be tested before it reaches either reviewer. Maindron lists checks for:
- Valid filename and folder, and a slug that does not already exist.
- Unfilled placeholders and a memory entry with the required number of fields.
- A required resource card and the exact expected read-next markup.
- Internal links that resolve to pages that already exist.
- A complete Claude response rather than one stopped because it reached the maximum token limit.
These checks do not establish that a page is accurate or useful; that is why editorial review remains in the flow. They catch contract violations and repository mismatches that can be checked mechanically.

How failures are contained
When an item fails, the workflow tries to recover its keyword ID from upstream nodes, removes a newly created branch where applicable, logs the failed call and its cost, marks the spreadsheet row Failed, and alerts a maintainer. It then continues with the next keyword. The explicit row status and per-item loop make it easier to identify the failed unit without treating an entire batch as one undifferentiated job.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →There is also a less obvious n8n pitfall in the account: a Limit node silently passed only the first item. Re-reading the current site context inside each loop iteration also let the workflow compare a keyword against pages published earlier in the same batch, rather than relying on stale context from before the loop.
What Maindron says changed after moving site maintenance to code
Maindron reports that shifting repository-maintenance work from Claude to n8n reduced model output by about two thirds. For the same keyword, she reports input context falling from 29,142 to 20,660 tokens and cost per page changing from $0.23 to $0.11. These are her observations about this Funnelsight workflow, not independently audited benchmarks; results will depend on prompts, model pricing, content requirements, and review effort.

The post also gives separate figures from its original setup: a refusal cost between 1 and 7 cents and a full page around 11 cents. Those figures describe different parts of the account and should not be treated as a directly comparable before-and-after measurement against the later per-page figures.

- Identify the source of truth. For each output, decide whether the workflow can read the needed fact from a spreadsheet, file, API, or repository.
- Assign semantic work to the model. Use Claude for classification and drafting when a task requires interpretation, and specify a fixed response structure for downstream parsing.
- Move verifiable updates into code. Calculate links, counts, sitemap changes, file placement, and other repository-derived state from the real files rather than asking the model to reconstruct them.
- Define rejection checks before review. Validate structure, filenames, placeholders, links, and completion status against explicit rules; keep human review for quality and judgment.
- Isolate each item through review and recovery. Give each keyword a status, route it through the right reviewers, record failures, and make sure an error on one item does not silently erase the rest of the batch.
- Measure the whole operating cost. Track model tokens and API cost alongside operator review time and maintenance effort. Token savings alone do not establish that the workflow is cheaper overall.
Maindron identifies the project as a demo SaaS built for an AI certification and describes a workflow that runs monthly. The case is useful as an implementation pattern, but it does not establish that n8n is better than another automation platform or that the same costs and results will hold for a different site.
