Samsung Galaxy Watch beta software is a pre-release version of Watch software offered to selected users so they can try changes early and send Samsung feedback. It is optional, not a separate watch model, and it is not available to every Galaxy Watch owner. Before installing, check the active program notice in Samsung Members, confirm your exact watch and country qualify, and back up your data. The eligible models and exit instructions can change from one beta to another.
What Galaxy Watch beta software means
A beta is an early version of software made available before a wider stable release. Samsung says its beta programs gather feedback about software features, performance, and usability. That means the experience may differ from the final release; joining is a choice to try pre-release software, not a guarantee that a particular feature will arrive unchanged or on every watch.

Samsung’s general beta guidance says availability is limited to specific devices, operating-system versions, and countries. The current program notice—not an old model list or another owner’s experience—is the place to check eligibility.
Who can join a Watch beta?
Eligibility depends on the named program, watch model, software version, and market. Samsung has announced different model and country combinations for different betas, so past participation does not establish eligibility for a program open now.

- One UI 8 Watch beta, June 2025: Samsung described a limited beta for users in Korea and the United States with Galaxy Watch5 series or later models. Some announced health features were limited to newer Watch families. These details applied to that program, not necessarily to a later one. Samsung Global Newsroom, June 16, 2025.
To check current availability, open Samsung Members on the phone paired with your watch and look for a Watch beta notice. If no relevant notice appears, the reviewed Samsung sources do not establish that there is a live program for your device and country; an absent notice is not evidence that your watch is defective. Do not rely on unofficial workarounds to enroll.
How to join and install the beta
Use the instructions attached to the active program notice. Samsung’s general beta guidance and an older Watch beta FAQ describe the broad route below, but the screens and terms may differ for a newer program.

- On the paired phone, open Samsung Members and sign in with your Samsung account if prompted.
- Check for a beta notice that names the relevant Watch program. Read its eligibility requirements, terms, and instructions before enrolling.
- If the notice offers enrollment for your device and country, follow its steps. Do not assume that seeing an announcement means enrollment is open to every owner.
- After enrollment, install an offered update through the Watch’s software update settings or the Galaxy Wearable app’s Watch software update screen, as directed by the active program. The exact path can vary.
Samsung’s general explanation of beta availability and participation is at Samsung Developers: One UI Beta. For Watch-specific steps, prioritize the instructions shown in the current program rather than assuming that an older FAQ still describes its screens.

Make a backup before installing. That is prudent preparation for a software change; Samsung’s guidance does not say that every beta installation erases watch data. Samsung also states it is not responsible for loss of data stored on the watch.

Samsung describes backup through Galaxy Wearable on the connected phone or through a Samsung account on the watch itself. Backed-up items can include settings for preloaded apps, installed app lists, and watch-face settings. Available screens and settings vary by watch, carrier, and software version. Follow Samsung’s current instructions for your device in Samsung Support: Prevent data loss on your Samsung smart watch.
Can you leave the beta and return to stable software?
Do not count on one universal Galaxy Watch rollback procedure. Samsung Community’s Watch beta FAQ documents steps for a particular historical program, while Samsung’s broader beta guidance may cover other Galaxy devices. The available official guidance does not establish a single current exit or downgrade path for every Watch model and beta.

Before joining, check whether the active program terms explain how to withdraw and return to stable software for your specific watch. If you later want to leave, use the program-specific instructions from Samsung rather than applying a procedure from an older beta or a different device. See the Samsung Community One UI Watch Beta Program FAQ as historical guidance only.
Install now or wait for the stable release?
Consider these points before enrolling:
- Eligibility: Does the current Samsung Members notice include your exact model, software version, and country?
- Feature value: Is there a beta feature you specifically want, and does Samsung say it works on your model?
- Preparation: Have you backed up the watch and read the active program terms?
- Exit clarity: Does the program explain how you can leave and return to stable software for your device?
If you cannot confirm eligibility or an exit route, or you rely on the watch and would rather avoid pre-release software, waiting for a stable update is the more cautious choice. Samsung does not provide a general beta failure-rate or reliability figure in the sources cited here, so no specific risk percentage can be applied to a Watch beta.
