What People Are Building with Jev: A Look Through Nine Awesome Lists

A survey of nine Jev directories counted 1,186 distinct repository addresses. The examples show Jev making typed decisions that other software acts on—not measuring users, quality, or finished apps.

Across nine Jev directory README files, an author counted 1,186 distinct repository addresses after removing repeated URLs and other directory listings. That is a map of links found under one collection method—not a count of finished apps, active users, or projects proven to work. The examples point to a recurring role for Jev: making a typed decision, such as choosing an option or scoring relevance, that the surrounding software can act on.

What the nine-list survey covers

In a September 21, 2026 article, Shin0221 says they gathered repository links from nine Jev directory README files, removed repeated URLs and other directory listings, and counted 1,186 different repository addresses. The scope matters: this is the author’s count of addresses after that cleanup, not a census of everything built with Jev.

An address is not necessarily a unique, finished application. A renamed repository can be listed under more than one address, while a directory entry by itself does not show that a project is maintained, usable, or successful. The article also cautions against reading repeat appearances as evidence that multiple people tested a project. Appearing once does not make a project unimportant, and appearing five times is not a quality or adoption score.

What people are using Jev for

The examples are easiest to understand as decision tasks within larger software workflows. Jev is used to make a choice or assessment; the application then decides what to do with that result.

  • Choose an option: a system can ask Jev to select a button or another item from available choices.
  • Score relevance: a workflow can use a relevance assessment to help decide whether a document belongs in a result set or deserves further attention.
  • Route a request: a system can use a decision about which model should handle a request and pass the request along accordingly.

These examples describe Jev’s place in the workflow, not a claim that it performs every step. The application still needs to act on the returned decision. If a task also needs a written notification or other prose, a text-generating model may handle that separate job.

Three decision primitives described by a separate gallery

Li-Evan’s community gallery describes three Jev primitives: Choice selects one option, Score places an item on an ordered scale, and Noul returns a probability that a statement is true. This is the gallery’s description, not an independent evaluation of their behavior across the listed projects.

Those labels offer a useful way to compare examples: ask what decision a project makes, what software consumes the result, and what evidence accompanies the listing. A project description, source link, runnable demo, and independent evaluation are different kinds of evidence; a directory entry alone does not supply all of them.

Why the directory categories do not add up neatly

Categories in the surveyed directories are not consistently comparable. As the article notes, one directory’s “SDKs and clients” category includes a Snake game and an email app. A category name therefore may not mean the same thing from list to list, and entries may mix libraries, clients, demos, and complete applications.

For readers exploring the ecosystem, it is more useful to inspect what each repository actually does than to treat category totals as a precise breakdown. Before relying on an entry, follow its repository link and check its current description, behavior, activity, and license; those details can change.

How the 1,186 figure differs from other catalogs

The 1,186 count belongs to the nine-README survey. A separate community gallery describes a collection of 3,398 projects, demos, posts, and write-ups gathered from GitHub, X, Reddit, Hacker News, YouTube, and the web. Its broader scope is different, so the two numbers should not be added together or presented as competing counts of Jev applications or users.

Other directories also use their own inclusion methods. For example, heyjunpenn’s catalog calls itself a 981-repository snapshot and asks readers to verify upstream behavior, activity, and licensing. These totals describe particular collections, not a stable measure of the Jev ecosystem.

A practical way to read a Jev project listing

  1. Identify the decision: Is the project choosing an option, scoring something, routing a request, or doing something else?
  2. Trace what happens next: Look for the surrounding code or explanation that shows how the returned decision affects the application.
  3. Check the evidence: Distinguish a directory description from a source repository, a runnable demo, or an independent assessment.
  4. Verify current details upstream: Directory membership, repository descriptions, maintenance, and licensing can change, so check the original project before depending on it.
