Motorola’s My UX is its branded phone experience: customizations, gestures and device tools layered around Android. It can change how parts of a Motorola phone look and how certain tasks work, but it is not a separate operating system. The exact controls and features depend on the phone model, software version, carrier and region.
What My UX changes
Motorola describes My UX through personalization, gestures and gaming. It includes visual choices such as system colors, fonts and icon shapes, along with wallpapers for the Home and Lock screens and options for arranging icons and widgets. These controls alter the phone’s presentation without replacing Android.

My UX also includes ways to interact with the phone and Motorola-provided tools. For example, Motorola’s general how-to instructions explain creating a theme through the home screen’s Personalize controls and toggling the flashlight with a chopping motion. The instructions also describe switching Gametime on or off through the Games app. These are examples from Motorola’s guidance, not a guarantee that every model has identical controls. On the motorola razr+ 2025, Motorola calls its gaming controls Moto Play. The model-specific guide says these tools adjust display and sound for gaming and directs users to Moto > Play to turn games on. That name and path are specific to that model’s guidance; they should not be assumed to apply across the Motorola range. Motorola razr+ 2025 guide

What remains Android
Android is still the phone’s operating system. My UX is Motorola’s experience around it, while Android-version changes come from the underlying platform and may be documented separately from Motorola personalization and Moto features.
For example, Motorola’s guide for the motorola edge 2025 lists Android 15 additions such as screen recording, higher-contrast settings, app archiving, changing the Back and Recents order in three-button navigation, and choosing audio output while a Bluetooth device remains connected. Those examples describe Android 15 on that named phone; they are not a universal list for every Motorola device or software build. motorola edge 2025 user guide

That separation is useful when diagnosing a change: a new Android setting may come with an OS update, while a theme, gesture or Motorola gaming control belongs to the manufacturer’s experience. In practice, screens can overlap, and Motorola warns that software updates may change the home-screen look.
Why the experience varies between Motorola phones
Motorola’s instructions are often tied to a specific model. Its Android 15 guide cautions that apps and features can vary by model, carrier or region, and software updates can change what a screen looks like. As a result, a menu path or feature documented for one phone may be absent, renamed or located elsewhere on another.
Rank #3
- Model: A feature may be present on one Motorola phone but not another.
- Software version: Android releases and later updates can add, move or change settings.
- Carrier and region: Availability and rollout can differ across markets and distribution channels.
How to check Android and security updates
Motorola treats security updates and Android OS updates as distinct update types. For eligibility and dates, the company directs owners to the software-update page for their country. It says timing varies because devices have different software versions across models, regions and distribution channels; carrier certification, independent testing and changes requested by partners can also affect release timing. Its guidance does not establish one universal schedule for My UX or Android updates. Motorola software update guidance
Quick Recap
- Open Motorola’s software-update page for your country.
- Look up the exact phone model to check its update eligibility and published dates.
- Use the phone’s own software-update settings to check whether an update is available for that device.
