Right now, the only officially announced platform for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves is Nintendo Switch 2. If you have the original Nintendo Switch, a PC, a phone, or another console, its ability to run the games has not been announced. Both titles are scheduled for simultaneous worldwide release in 2027, but an exact release date and detailed system requirements have not been published in the official announcements.
Check your device against the announced platform
- Identify the exact model. Check the console’s label, system settings, or purchase record; “Switch” or “Nintendo console” alone does not tell you whether it is a Nintendo Switch 2.
- Compare it with the official platform listing. The official Pokémon game page, The Pokémon Company’s February 27, 2026 announcement, and Nintendo’s March 2, 2026 news item identify Nintendo Switch 2 as the platform.
- Use that listing as the limit of what is known. If your device is not a Nintendo Switch 2, it is not among the platforms announced for these games. Do not assume a port or compatibility with the original Nintendo Switch.
What the announcement confirms
- Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are upcoming entries in the Pokémon video game series.
- Both are announced exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
- The planned release is in 2027, with a simultaneous worldwide launch. The cited announcements do not give an exact date.
What you cannot check yet
The announcement pages do not provide storage requirements, a minimum system software version, account or online requirements, or required accessories. They also do not establish performance details such as resolution or frame rate, save transfer, or cross-play. The platform announcement alone is not enough to verify those specifics.

If you are deciding whether to buy hardware, treat the current information as a platform announcement—not a complete compatibility specification. Check the official Pokémon and Nintendo pages for a product listing, exact release date, and any detailed requirements before purchasing. The announcement does not say that a console purchase includes either game or identify a bundle.
