SSH (Secure Shell) protects remote logins and connections across an untrusted network; it does not make the computers, commands, or services at either end safe. The identity of “ducksh” is not established by the available authoritative sources, so no product-specific protection claims can be verified. If you meant DuckDB, its documentation warns that untrusted SQL runs with the privileges of the user and needs additional sandboxing—but DuckDB and “ducksh” should not be treated as the same tool without confirmation.
What does a secure shell protect?
SSH is a protocol for secure remote connections and logins over untrusted networks. Its protection concerns the connection; it is not a general guarantee that a shell session, host, or command is safe. The IETF’s SSH architecture specification (RFC 4251) makes endpoint security an assumption.

That distinction matters: encrypted, authenticated transport can protect a session from network threats, but it cannot restore trust in a computer that is already compromised. A secure connection to an unsafe endpoint is still a connection to an unsafe endpoint.

Both ends of an SSH connection matter. RFC 4251 warns that a compromised server can compromise terminal sessions, port forwarding, and systems reached through that server. A compromised client can also expose services if authentication does not prevent an attacker from taking advantage of them. SSH does not neutralize malicious commands or guarantee the safety of resources accessible from either endpoint.

Assess SSH security by asking what is protected and where enforcement happens: the network connection, the client or server, or an operating-system or application boundary. Transport protection and endpoint isolation are different controls.
What an SSH agent protects—and what it does not
An SSH agent holds credentials and performs operations using loaded private keys. It can reduce the need to expose raw key material to other processes, but access to the agent may still let a process request private-key operations. In other words, preventing a key from being copied is not the same as preventing it from being used.
The IETF’s SSH Agent Protocol specification (RFC 9987) treats agent access as sensitive. Forwarding agent access to a remote host extends trust to that host: a process there may be able to ask the agent to perform operations. The RFC advises against forwarding an agent to a host that is not fully trusted.
What is ducksh, and what can it protect you from?
The authoritative material available here does not identify “ducksh” as a shell-security product, project, or standard. Without a verified identity and threat model, it is not possible to say what it protects, what it cannot protect, or how it handles credentials, processes, files, or host access. The name alone is not enough to attribute a capability.
To evaluate a tool called ducksh, first confirm its official documentation or source repository. Then look for the protected asset, the enforcement boundary, its assumptions about the client and server, whether it prevents credential extraction or credential use, and whether forwarding or delegation grants another host access. Those are distinct security properties; a claim about one does not establish the others.

DuckDB is a database engine, and the available sources do not establish that it is the same product as “ducksh.” Its security documentation says SQL runs with the full privileges of the user. Accordingly, untrusted SQL requires additional safeguards, such as sandboxing; DuckDB describes its settings as defense in depth, not a substitute for proper sandboxing.
Apply that warning only when the tool in question is DuckDB or a project built on it. It does not verify or describe a separate product named ducksh.
