Streamlabs Stream Boss is an interactive overlay that turns supported audience activity—such as follows, tips, bits, and subscriptions—into damage against a boss with a health bar. Set it up in the Streamlabs Dashboard, choose how health behaves between battles, then add the widget to Streamlabs Desktop or another streaming app through a browser source.
What Streamlabs Stream Boss does
Streamlabs describes the widget as a competitive battle: audience events reduce the current boss’s health, and viewers compete to claim the throne. It is an engagement mechanic, not a promise of more viewers or income. Which events are available can depend on your account configuration.

- Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- Open All Widgets from the left navigation and select Stream Boss.
- Choose a theme. Use Launch to preview the widget, and preview again after saving changes.
- Under Manage Battle, set starting health and select a mode:
- Fixed: each new boss starts with the same health.
- Incremental: each defeat adds health to the next boss by an amount you set.
- Overkill: excess damage from the finishing blow is multiplied and becomes the next boss’s health.
- Under Settings, choose how supported events—such as follows, bits, subscriptions, and tips—affect health. The guide does not prescribe a universal balance; select values that suit your community.
- Adjust visual options as needed, including kill animation, fade time, font, background color, and health-bar colors.
- Save your settings. Return to Manage Battle and select Save Stream Boss Health to activate the widget.

Set the battle pace
Fixed health keeps the difficulty consistent from one boss to the next. Incremental health creates a progressively harder sequence, while Overkill uses excess finishing damage to determine the next boss’s health. Streamlabs gives 2,000 as an example starting-health value for creators who want more frequent boss changes; that is an example, not a recommended universal setting or performance benchmark.

Keep the bar visible or let it fade
Fade time controls how long the widget remains visible after activity. Streamlabs suggests zero fade time when you want the health bar to stay visible continuously.
Balance audience events
Use the event settings to decide the relative health impact of supported activity. There is no single value that is established as best for every channel, so consider how often events occur in your community and whether one kind of support should have more impact than another.

Add Stream Boss to your streaming software
Streamlabs Desktop
- In Sources, select the add-source control.
- Choose Widgets > Stream Boss and add the source.
- Configure the available tabs: Goal for starting health and battle mode, Manage Battle for interaction effects, and Visual Settings for appearance.
- Select Done, then place and resize the widget on the canvas. The Sources controls also include advanced options such as audio and custom CSS.
OBS Studio, XSplit, or another compatible application
- Copy the Stream Boss Widget URL from the widget’s Streamlabs settings.
- In your broadcasting application, add a Browser Source.
- Paste the widget URL, set the source width and height to fit your scene, and confirm.
- Position and resize the browser source in the scene, then preview it before going live.
Menu names and controls can vary by application and version. The documented method for software other than Streamlabs Desktop is the browser-source route; the Streamlabs guide does not enumerate every product version.

Stream Boss versus a goal widget
Stream Boss is for a battle driven by audience events. If you want to show progress toward a target without a boss or battle mechanic, Streamlabs also offers separate goal widgets. Those can be added as sources in Streamlabs Desktop or as browser sources in OBS. See the Streamlabs goal widgets page.

Troubleshooting setup problems
- The widget is not active after configuration: save the settings, then return to Manage Battle and select Save Stream Boss Health.
- The widget is missing in your scene: confirm you added the native Widgets > Stream Boss source in Streamlabs Desktop, or added a Browser Source with the copied widget URL in another compatible application.
- The overlay is clipped or too small: adjust the Browser Source dimensions or resize and reposition the source on the canvas.
- The bar disappears sooner than you want: review the fade-time setting; Streamlabs suggests zero fade time for a continuously visible bar.
- An audience event does not change health as expected: check the event’s effect in Settings and confirm that the event is supported and available for your account configuration.
Copyright and stream-content considerations
Stream Boss is an overlay configuration, not permission to use copyrighted material in the rest of a stream. Follow the rights and platform rules that apply to your video, music, and other content. The Stream Boss setup guide does not establish any special copyright exemption or guarantee that particular events will be available on every platform or account.
