Offcanvas V10 is a free dashboard sidebar snippet from Colorlib: a dark icon rail that expands to show navigation labels. Colorlib says it uses plain HTML and CSS with a small amount of vanilla JavaScript, requires no Bootstrap files or jQuery, and can also be used inside Bootstrap projects. It is a standalone sidebar pattern, not Bootstrap’s built-in offcanvas component.
What Offcanvas V10 does
V10 is designed for dashboards, analytics tools, and web apps with multiple sections. Its rail can collapse to icons and expand to show text labels, a badge, and signed-in-user details. In the collapsed view, Colorlib says labels appear on hover and keyboard focus and remain available to screen readers.

Colorlib also describes a saved rail state using localStorage with a guarded fallback, a mobile layout in which the expanded sidebar overlays the page, and transitions that turn off when reduced motion is preferred. These are the publisher’s descriptions; the code has not been independently tested here, so verify the behaviors against your project’s browser, keyboard, and assistive-technology requirements.
The V10 page lists a 156 KB download, as stated by Colorlib in 2026, and says it was released in September 2026. The listed size is not an independently measured archive size.

Is Offcanvas V10 the same as Bootstrap’s offcanvas?
No. Colorlib presents V10 as a separately styled sidebar snippet that can be used on its own or inside Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. Bootstrap’s native offcanvas is a framework component, introduced in Bootstrap 5; it is not what the V10 download becomes merely by being placed in a Bootstrap project.
Bootstrap’s v5.0 documentation describes its component as a JavaScript-controlled panel with start, end, top, and bottom placements, a default backdrop, configurable body scrolling, keyboard dismissal, and accessibility markup such as aria-labelledby. Its example also uses tabindex="-1". Bootstrap states: “When shown, offcanvas includes a default backdrop that can be clicked to hide the offcanvas.” That behavior describes Bootstrap’s component, not Colorlib V10.

Choose between them based on the interaction you need. V10 is presented as a collapsible navigation rail; Bootstrap’s component is a temporary offcanvas panel. Before adopting either, check how it handles desktop content layout versus a phone overlay, state persistence, keyboard and screen-reader access, reduced motion, and the framework dependencies already in your app.

What to check before using the download
- Dependencies: Colorlib says the snippet uses plain HTML and CSS with vanilla JavaScript and does not require Bootstrap files, jQuery, or plugins.
- Integration: The publisher says it can be used in Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. Treat that as a compatibility claim for the snippet, not evidence that it follows Bootstrap’s native plugin API.
- Behavior: Confirm the collapsed and expanded states, mobile overlay, saved state, keyboard focus, screen-reader labels, and reduced-motion handling in your own implementation.
- License and attribution: The V10 page lists CC BY 3.0. Colorlib’s guide says its snippets may be used in personal and commercial projects with the credit link retained. Review the license included with the downloaded files before redistribution.
Is Bootstrap offcanvas available in Bootstrap 4?
Bootstrap’s native offcanvas component was added in Bootstrap 5, according to the official migration documentation. Colorlib’s separate V10 sidebar may be used in Bootstrap 4 projects, as the publisher states, but that does not add Bootstrap’s native offcanvas component to Bootstrap 4.

For Colorlib’s snippets, the publisher lists CC BY 3.0 for V10, and its guide says personal and commercial use is allowed with the credit link retained. Check the license supplied in the download before reuse or redistribution, because the terms that apply to a specific package should be confirmed from its included license.
