In an expansion announcement dated July 13, 2026, Meta said the campus would reach 5 gigawatts (GW) of compute capacity. The buildout is underway; the announcement does not mean the facility is complete.
Where is the Hyperion data center?
Hyperion is part of Meta’s data-center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana. The location is in the state’s northeast. Louisiana Economic Development describes the expanded campus as nearly 10 million square feet, while Meta’s announcement describes its scale in terms of compute capacity. These are different measures: square footage refers to the campus’s built area, while gigawatts describe power capacity for computing infrastructure.

How much is Meta investing in Hyperion?
The public announcements give two large figures with different scopes. Meta’s July 2026 post says the expansion represents more than $50 billion in regional investment. In October 2025, Meta announced that the campus joint venture involved approximately $27 billion in total development costs for buildings and long-lived power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure. The sources do not reconcile the amounts; they should not be treated as competing estimates of the same cost.

|---|---|---|
| More than $50 billion | Regional investment associated with the expansion; Meta’s announcement does not provide a reconciled cost breakdown. | Meta, July 13, 2026 |
| Approximately $27 billion | Joint-venture development costs for buildings and long-lived power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure. | Meta, October 21, 2025 |

- Space Saving: Maximum depth: 14.8". Use the wall mount network cabinet to maximize available space for retail locations, classrooms, back offices, network cabinets, and other locations where space is limited.
- Fast Heat Dissipation: The server cabinet is designed with vents to optimize airflow and avoid critical IT equipment overheating. Heat sink holes in the top, bottom, and rear panels are more conducive to heat dissipation.
- Sturdy Construction: Robust welded frame construction for durability and long service life. With 100 lbs wall-mounted load capacity and 200 lbs ground-mounted load capacity, you can place multiple devices in the server rack cabinet as needed.
- High Security: The locked glass door ensures the security of data and equipment. Wall mount rack enclosure server cabinet is ideal for use in public places such as offices, effectively protecting the security of your devices.
- Hassle-free Installation: Fully adjustable square-hole mounting rails of the wall mount server cabinet facilitate device installation. Wiring holes on the top, bottom, and rear panels provide you with easy cable routing.
Who owns and operates the campus?
Funds managed by Blue Owl Capital own 80% of the campus joint venture, and Meta retains 20%. Meta said the parties committed to fund their pro rata shares of the approximately $27 billion development costs. Meta is to provide construction and property-management services and lease the completed campus. This structure describes the joint venture; it does not change the distinction between that development-cost figure and the later regional-investment figure.

What jobs and local benefits does Meta project?
Meta’s July 2026 announcement projects more than 7,500 jobs at peak construction and 1,000 operational roles once the campus is complete. These are company projections, not final employment counts. Earlier figures differ because they describe earlier project stages: Meta’s October 2025 announcement referred to more than 500 operational jobs, while Louisiana Economic Development’s page includes older highlights of 800 or more.
