Fiber is generally the stronger fit when it is available and you want the fastest advertised speeds; Internet Air is a wireless alternative with AT&T-listed typical downloads of 90–300 Mbps. Availability and final price depend on your address, so check the specific plans and Broadband Facts label before ordering.
What is AT&T Home Internet?
AT&T’s residential internet service comes in two main forms: Fiber and Internet Air. Fiber carries data over fiber-optic cable to the home. Internet Air is fixed wireless, using AT&T’s 5G network and an All-Fi Hub at the service location. These technologies have different performance characteristics, and not every address can order both.

AT&T describes Fiber as reliable and Internet Air as fast and reliable, but those are provider claims rather than an independent measurement of every household’s experience. A useful comparison starts with the technology available at your address, then checks the plan’s disclosed speed, latency, terms, and full price.

AT&T Fiber
AT&T advertises Fiber plans up to 5 GIG where available. The company says the maximum single-device wired speed for its 5-GIG service is 4.7 Gbps. These are wired-speed claims, not a promise that a device using Wi-Fi will reach the same rate; actual results can vary with equipment, Wi-Fi, and other conditions. See AT&T’s Fiber details and plan overview for current plan information.

AT&T Internet Air
AT&T lists typical Internet Air downloads of 90–300 Mbps and uploads of 8–30 Mbps. Its plan page says those ranges are based on internal speed tests: approximately 75% of tested customers received speeds in the range or higher, while 25% received lower speeds. The figures are AT&T disclosures, not independent testing or a guarantee for a particular home.
The Internet Air Broadband Facts label reviewed for taxation geography 391013000 lists typical latency of 30–65 ms. That label also says performance depends on the customer’s device and the network technology available at the service address; the latency figure should not be assumed to apply to every location. Check the label for your exact plan and address through AT&T’s Internet Air page.

What the speed figures mean in practice
For a household choosing between the services, compare the address-specific disclosed speeds rather than putting Fiber’s advertised maximum beside Internet Air’s typical range as if they measured the same thing. Upload performance and latency matter for video calls, sending large files, and interactive applications. If you already subscribe and want to check performance, use a wired connection when practical: AT&T qualifies its speed claims as wired, and Wi-Fi or a device can be the limiting factor. A compatible Ethernet cable is optional; it does not increase the speed supplied by the connection.
How good is AT&T Home Internet?
There is no single evidence-based quality verdict for every AT&T household. The primary information available here establishes service types, provider-advertised speeds, terms, and setup—not a universal customer-satisfaction score or measured reliability rate. Your likely experience depends on which service is available and, for Internet Air, the signal and network conditions at your home.

- Internet Air: Compare its typical download and upload ranges, listed latency, and wireless congestion terms against your household’s needs. Location and network conditions affect performance.
- Either service: Review the plan-specific Broadband Facts label and the checkout total, and account for the capabilities of your devices and home Wi-Fi.
AT&T says Fiber plans include unlimited data with no data caps. Internet Air is also promoted with unlimited data and no overage fees, but AT&T says it may temporarily slow speeds when its network is busy. “Unlimited” therefore does not mean that Internet Air speed is guaranteed to remain unchanged at all times. See the Internet Air terms and the service’s Broadband Facts label for the applicable disclosures.
Where is AT&T Home Internet available?
Availability is address-specific. Nearby service, a state-level list, or a regional coverage map does not confirm that a particular home can order Fiber or Internet Air. Enter your address on AT&T’s Fiber or Internet Air page. The Internet Air check also assesses whether the location can receive suitable signal strength.

AT&T’s Broadband Facts explainer says a label’s monthly price excludes offers and government taxes, while plan-specific fees and charges are itemized. The reviewed Internet Air label is tied to taxation geography 391013000, so its fee details should not be generalized to other areas. That label lists a $200 non-return gateway fee and a $0 early termination fee; taxes vary by location. Open the label for the exact plan and address rather than relying on a promotional headline. Quick Recap
How to choose between Fiber and Internet Air
- Check your address. Use AT&T’s address lookup to see which service and plans can actually be ordered.
- Compare the plan disclosures. Review typical speeds, upload speeds, latency, data terms, monthly price, and fees on the Broadband Facts label for the eligible plan.
