Amazon RxPass is a $5-per-month prescription savings subscription for eligible Amazon Prime members. It covers eligible generic prescriptions filled by Amazon Pharmacy, with delivery included for qualifying orders. The $5 is a membership fee—not the price of each prescription—and Prime costs extra. RxPass is not health insurance, does not cover every drug or formulation, and still requires a valid prescription.
What RxPass actually is
RxPass is an add-on benefit attached to an active Amazon Prime membership. Amazon Pharmacy is the dispensing pharmacy and, under Amazon’s current terms, the sole participating provider. You pay one monthly RxPass fee for eligible medications on Amazon’s current list rather than a separate cash price for each covered prescription.
The program is limited to eligible generic drugs, exact strengths, formulations, quantities, and supply limits. Amazon can change the eligible-drug list and program pricing, so check the live list immediately before enrolling or transferring a prescription at Amazon’s RxPass page.
Examples of medications on the current list
Amazon’s live page lists more than 50 generic medications, including examples such as amlodipine, lisinopril, losartan, atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, glipizide, glyburide-metformin, sertraline, escitalopram, bupropion, omeprazole, naproxen, donepezil, lamotrigine, finasteride, sildenafil, allopurinol, ondansetron, amoxicillin, doxycycline, cephalexin, and selected topical medicines. A generic name appearing on the page does not mean every dose, extended-release version, package size, or quantity is covered.

How much does RxPass cost?
| Cost component | What to expect |
|---|---|
| RxPass | $5 per month, before any applicable tax. Amazon says the first month may be prorated; later charges occur on the first day of the month. |
| Prime | Required and billed separately. Check the applicable price for your account and country at Amazon Prime. |
| Eligible prescriptions | Included in the RxPass benefit when the exact prescription qualifies and a valid prescription is on file. |
| Taxes or other charges | Amazon’s terms say tax may apply to the membership fee or eligible purchases. |
If you already pay for Prime, the incremental subscription cost is generally $5 per month plus applicable tax. If you would join Prime only for prescriptions, compare the full Prime cost plus RxPass with your current pharmacy or insurance total. RxPass renews automatically unless you cancel before the next charge.
Is RxPass insurance?
No. Amazon describes RxPass as a prescription savings subscription, not insurance. It is not a health plan, pharmacy-benefit card, deductible, copay program, or Medicare Part D plan. The RxPass fee cannot be paid with an HSA or FSA under Amazon’s FAQ, and Amazon’s terms prohibit combining an RxPass purchase with insurance, copay assistance, or other third-party financial benefits.
Amazon Pharmacy can still process eligible prescriptions through insurance when you use its ordinary pharmacy service. That is separate from paying for an RxPass-covered purchase. Prime Rx is also separate: it offers medication-specific discounts rather than RxPass’s flat monthly subscription. Details are listed at Amazon’s ways-to-save page.

Who can use RxPass?
- An active Amazon Prime membership and Amazon Pharmacy account.
- A valid prescription for an eligible medication.
- An eligible shipping address.
- No disqualifying state-funded coverage. Amazon currently says people with Medicaid or CHIP are not eligible.
- Only one person per Amazon account may enroll at a time.
Medicare beneficiaries
Amazon says Medicare beneficiaries may use RxPass, but RxPass does not replace Medicare drug coverage. Compare your Part D or Medicare Advantage copay, deductible and out-of-pocket rules with the RxPass total, and verify the exact strength and quantity. Amazon has estimated about $70 in annual savings for an eligible Medicare beneficiary; that is Amazon’s estimate, not a guarantee, and using RxPass does not mean the purchase is billed to Medicare.
State availability
Amazon’s current consumer page says RxPass ships in 48 states and is unavailable for shipment to California and Washington. Amazon Pharmacy itself remains available in those states. However, the formal terms of use, last updated September 16, 2024, still list California, Texas and Washington as excluded, while Amazon’s newer 2026 announcement says the program expanded to 48 states, including Texas. Confirm your address and account eligibility at checkout before relying on RxPass.
How to sign up
- Open Amazon’s RxPass enrollment page or Amazon Pharmacy in the app and sign in with the Prime account.
- Complete the eligibility check and review the monthly charge.
- Choose an eligible medication. Ask your clinician to send a new prescription to Amazon Pharmacy, or provide your current pharmacy information to request a transfer.
- Confirm the exact drug, strength, dosage form, quantity, refills and delivery date.
- Enable automatic refills only when they fit the patient’s treatment plan, then place the order.
Joining does not automatically move prescriptions from CVS, Walgreens, Walmart or another pharmacy. Transfers can take time if no refills remain, the prescription is expired, the prescriber must authorize a new order, the drug is unavailable, or account details do not match. Do not stop or delay a time-sensitive medication while waiting; contact your prescriber or pharmacist.

- Spring Assisted Open Design. We use the latest design on this weekly pill organizer to achieve one-handed operation with the little rubber strips for the smart "lid spring open" feature. The lids are all beautifully colored and marked clearly with the date, everything is clear at a glance so you may find it easy to choose the pills you need. It's quite nice for easy daily dispensing and big enough to hold 8 fish oils or 12 large vitamins for each dose (size of each compartment: 1.3"x1.18"x0.82")
- Say Goodbye to Dumpage Pills. No worries about unwanted dumpage of pills found by pets and kids for your slightest unintentional or incidental touch on the medicine organizer. The push button stays closed once locked and securely snap shut keeping pills safe. It's small and perfectly suitable for travel and is ideal for storing small jewelry or items such as earrings, beads, nail art tips, ect.
- Premium Screen Printing. To avoid screen-printing fonts and icons falling off from the surface of the pill box, we use high-end screen printing ink and strictly do the Ink Adhesion Test with 3M Tapes before shipment. Thus, no need to be frustrated with the missing fonts of "Tuesday" or icons of "PM", and worry about mistakenly taking the wrong tablets.
- BPA-Free Material. This pill case is pretty safe because of being made of food grade materials. You would be worry-free with the BPA-free pill boxes and organizer when storing multiple pill regimes inside. With the transparent plastic lid, it's quite easy to distinguish the pills in each dose without opening the lids.
- What You Receive: 1 x AUVON iMedassist Pill Holder, our 12-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Refills and delivery
Amazon advertises free delivery for eligible RxPass prescriptions and supports automatic refills. The delivery date shown for your particular order is the reliable guide: processing, stock, address and prescription details all matter. Same-day delivery is limited to eligible products and locations. Amazon says many customers receive prescriptions the next day or within two to three days, while its 2026 announcement describes an expansion of same-day service to nearly 4,500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026. That is not a universal RxPass guarantee.
“Unlimited” in Amazon’s marketing means access to eligible listed medications under the subscription; it does not mean unlimited quantities, early refills, all formulations or unrestricted day supplies. Monitor auto-refill dates, remaining supply, medication changes, delivery address and payment method.
What if your prescription is not eligible?
RxPass does not make a nonlisted medication free. Within Amazon Pharmacy, you can compare:

- AM/PM COMPARTMENTS: Plan doses for morning and evening with separate AM/PM compartments
- LARGE CAPACITY: Each compartment can hold 12 aspirin sized tablets
- CONTOURED BOTTOMS: Planner compartments have contoured bottoms so retrieving your medication out of the planner is simple
- CLEAR LIDS: Clear planner lids keep your medication visable to help prevent missed doses
- HEALTHY LIVING: Amazon Basic Care products make living healthier simply easier
- Insurance pricing, including deductible and copay effects.
- Amazon’s ordinary cash price.
- Prime Rx discounts.
- Manufacturer coupons where eligible.
- Another pharmacy or discount program.
Prime Rx advertises discounts of up to 80% on generic drugs and up to 40% on brand-name drugs, but those are maximum claims, not guaranteed prices. Check the actual quote for your drug and location.
Is RxPass worth it?
Use the same drug, strength, quantity and refill frequency when comparing options. A practical calculation is:
- RxPass: RxPass fee + any Prime cost you would newly incur + applicable tax.
- Insurance: relevant copays and deductible costs, in addition to premiums you already pay.
- Cash or discount program: quoted medication prices + membership or coupon fees + delivery charges.
RxPass is more likely to fit when
- You already have Prime and take several eligible generic medications.
- Your insurance copays or cash prices exceed the effective $5 subscription cost.
- You do not use Medicaid or CHIP and your address passes Amazon’s eligibility check.
- Home delivery and automatic refills are more useful than local pickup.
Another option may be better when
- Your insurance copay is $0 or lower than the effective RxPass cost.
- You take one inexpensive medication or none of your prescriptions are listed.
- You would join Prime solely for one prescription.
- You need immediate pickup, a particular local pharmacist, or a pharmacy required by your plan.
- Your medication, dose, formulation, quantity or supply is unavailable through RxPass.
Alternatives to compare
| Option | When it may fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Pharmacy without RxPass | Insurance, cash pricing, delivery or prescriptions outside the RxPass list. | Local pickup or a plan-required pharmacy may be preferable. |
| Prime Rx | Medication-specific discounts without the additional RxPass subscription. | “Up to” savings vary by drug and pharmacy. |
| Insurance or Medicare drug coverage | Low copays, plan benefits or deductible/out-of-pocket accumulation matter. | Compare the actual claim price with RxPass rather than assuming either is cheaper. |
| Cost Plus Drugs | Drug-by-drug generic cash-price comparisons. | It uses medication-specific pricing, and stock, shipping and exact prices vary. |
| GoodRx | Local pickup or a medication outside RxPass. | Coupon prices vary by ZIP code and generally do not count toward insurance deductibles. |
Cancellation, refunds and common problems
Amazon’s consumer page says you can cancel at any time, retain access through the paid month and avoid another charge. The formal terms provide more detail: cancel through Amazon Pharmacy Account Settings under Subscriptions or through customer service. Cancellation within the first 30 days receives a 100% refund of RxPass membership fees and takes effect when Amazon receives the notice. After 30 days, cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the calendar month.

Check the live medication listing before transferring a prescription because the list can change. If an address is rejected, a transfer stalls, or a medication is unavailable, use your current pharmacy or prescriber for continuity rather than waiting for delivery. For privacy details, review Amazon Pharmacy’s Notice of Privacy Practices linked from the RxPass page.
Bottom line
RxPass is most compelling for an existing Prime member taking multiple eligible generic medications whose combined insurance or cash costs exceed $5 per month. It is less compelling for people with very low copays, noneligible prescriptions, Medicaid or CHIP coverage, uncertain state eligibility, or a need for immediate local pickup. Compare the complete monthly cost—not the $5 headline—with the exact price from your insurer, Amazon Pharmacy and other pharmacies.
