A crypto presale bonus code is a sale-specific promotional code or referral identifier. It may qualify a buyer for an additional token allocation, but the code itself does not guarantee extra tokens. The sale’s written terms determine what the code does, who can use it, how any bonus is calculated, and when tokens can be received or transferred.
What is a crypto presale bonus code?
There is no single standard meaning. A code may identify a referral, attribute a purchase to a campaign, unlock a discount, or qualify an eligible buyer for additional tokens. Unless the issuer’s official sale terms explain the code’s effect, its label or the page displaying it is not enough to establish a reward.

Confirm that the code appears in the issuer’s primary sale terms or an official campaign page. Note the terms’ date or version, and check who operates the campaign: a platform may provide an interface while a third party runs the offer. Binance, for example, distinguishes its wallet interface role from third-party campaign operation in its FAQ. Verify the campaign operator and terms directly rather than relying on a code shared in a message.
Does a presale bonus code actually give you more tokens?
Only if the applicable terms say so and you meet their conditions. A displayed percentage may apply to a qualifying purchase, tokens purchased, or an allocation determined later; those are materially different calculations. The offer may also have a minimum contribution, cap, tier, expiry, use limit, or opt-in requirement. The terms should state each one.

For example, Axis Community Sale terms amended 29 September 2026 make a community bonus depend on final token allocation; an entity that receives no allocation gets no bonus. The terms describe a 5% to 25% bonus rate, with 25% at TGE and the remaining 75% subject to a six-month cliff and six-month linear release. Those figures describe that specific offer, not a standard presale formula or a currently open sale. Read the Axis terms.
Distinguish among a discount, extra tokens, allocation priority, and referral attribution. Ask what amount the percentage is calculated against, whether the issuer can reduce the allocation, and whether the bonus follows the same delivery and vesting conditions as purchased tokens. “Bonus awarded” does not necessarily mean immediately available or transferable.
How do I know if a crypto presale bonus code is legitimate?
No code by itself proves that an offer is genuine. Start with the project’s official website and sale agreement; check that the code and campaign are described there and that the receiving party, payment asset, network, and destination address match those official materials. A polished page, promotional message, or claimed partnership is not a substitute for the agreement.

- Identify the seller and campaign operator. Determine whether the issuer, a platform, or a separate third party controls the sale and is responsible for delivery.
- Check eligibility and geography. Look for excluded locations, identity verification, screening, investor-category restrictions, and wallet requirements. - Read the legal and risk disclosures. Look for the token’s rights, applicable law, refund or dispute provisions, and any conditions that can suspend or claw back a reward.
- Treat guaranteed returns as a warning sign. The SEC’s educational HoweyCoins example shows how a polished ICO-style promotion can be fake and flags guaranteed-return claims. The FCA says, “ICOs are very high-risk, speculative investments.” Its ICO warning was first published 12 September 2017 and last updated 27 February 2019; it is a risk warning, not a complete statement of current law.
Do not send funds to an address supplied only alongside a code. Confirm the destination, permitted payment asset and network, contribution limits, and fees in the official campaign materials before paying.
What should I check before using a presale bonus code?
Eligibility and code mechanics
Find the exact participation rules: who qualifies, which jurisdictions or investor categories are excluded, what verification is required, and whether a particular wallet is mandatory. Then confirm whether the code expires, has a use limit or minimum contribution, requires opt-in, or merely records a referral. The terms should explicitly define whether it produces a discount, extra tokens, priority, or attribution.
Bonus calculation and allocation risk
Identify the formula’s base amount, any tiers or cap, and the event that fixes the allocation. A percentage of committed funds is not the same as a percentage of tokens ultimately allocated. Check what happens if allocation is reduced or set to zero; a headline rate can have no value if the qualifying allocation never occurs.

Payment, delivery, and timing
Confirm the payment asset and network, official destination address, minimum and maximum contribution, and applicable fees. The agreement should identify who is responsible for delivery, what event triggers it, and what happens if the schedule changes. Axis’s terms make stated delivery dates targets rather than commitments. Lockups, token rights, and liquidity
Check for a cliff, linear vesting, transfer restrictions, sale restrictions, and any conditions that can suspend or claw back the bonus. Kraken notes that vesting schedules vary by sale in its Launch explanation. TAPLY’s terms give a six-month cliff followed by twelve months of linear vesting as one example, not a general rule. A bonus percentage cannot establish a token’s value or whether you will be able to sell it. Read the agreement’s rights and liquidity disclosures, and treat claims about future value or listings as claims to verify rather than guaranteed outcomes.

How to compare two presale bonus offers
Compare contractual mechanics rather than headline percentages. Use the terms for each specific offer, since eligibility, allocation, payment, and vesting can make a nominally larger bonus less useful.

This comparison clarifies what the offer promises contractually; it does not predict token price or investment performance.
Why location and promoter status matter
Rules vary by jurisdiction, firm, and type of promotion. In the UK, the FCA says cryptoasset promotions have been within its financial promotions regime since 8 October 2023. Its statement, last updated 6 February 2026, says firms wishing to promote cryptoassets in the UK must by law be authorised or registered by the FCA, or have their marketing approved by an authorised firm; it also identifies common crypto marketing issues. That UK-specific regime should not be assumed to govern every sale or country. The DFSA rulebook also restricts crypto trading incentives for retail clients of firms it authorises, a rule with a specific institutional and client scope rather than a universal ban. DFSA rulebook.
