In his feature update, author Cristian Carlos dos Santos describes local DuckDB analysis, S3 browsing and queries, plus additions to joins, schema navigation, ODBC, and Windows updates. He identified v0.5.1 as the current published release when he wrote the post; that is release context from the post, not confirmation of the latest version today.
Move query results into a local analysis workspace
The central change is a workflow for taking data from the main SQL editor into a local DuckDB workspace. Before importing a query result, users can inspect the SQL and choose either the complete result or an explicit sample. This makes the scope of the local analysis a deliberate choice rather than an implicit assumption.

CSV and Parquet files can also be added as sources. Imported sources become datasets that can be joined with SQL, including data from different database connections and local files. The analysis editor provides dataset and column completion, and may suggest joins using imported foreign-key metadata. Users can add, rename, or remove datasets; the author says they persist across app restarts.
Preview the grid; export the full result
The result grid is a preview, not a guarantee that it contains every row. Users can page through the preview or export the complete query result as CSV or Parquet. The export also includes an .omni.json file recording dataset, source-coverage, and ingestion-time information. That metadata helps identify whether the exported analysis came from complete source data or a sample.

Browse and query S3 data
S3 connections appear in the main IDE, where users can browse buckets and supported CSV and Parquet objects and query them in the SQL editor. S3 table names and columns are available through editor completion. The author also describes querying Delta and Iceberg tables when the required DuckDB extensions are available; support therefore depends on those extensions being present.
The workflow can combine S3 data with a bounded result imported from another configured database. For DuckLake-based S3 setups, the object browser can discover catalogs backed by a saved PostgreSQL connection or a SQLite or DuckDB file.
Other SQL workflow additions
Foreign-key-aware joins and row navigation
In JOIN ... ON clauses, autocomplete can suggest join predicates based on foreign keys and query aliases. A foreign-key value in query results can also be used to navigate to the referenced row.

Typing /catalog opens a searchable list of SQL command templates. Selecting a template inserts it into the editor.
Generic ODBC connections
Generic ODBC connections are available when a compatible driver is installed on the machine. The post does not specify a complete driver or database compatibility matrix.
DDL display
PostgreSQL and MySQL tables can show catalog-backed DDL. For other engines, the displayed definition is labeled partial and is built from cached metadata; it should not be mistaken for a complete catalog definition.

In-app Windows updates
On Windows, the author says signed updates can be installed from inside the app.
What the update establishes—and what it does not
The post presents these as additions made after v0.2.5 and names v0.5.1 as the current published release at the time it was written. It is a first-person feature account, not an independent test: it provides no performance benchmarks or impact statistics, and does not establish the present-day release, full operating-system or database support matrix, installation requirements, license terms, or security properties. For someone working across databases or querying files in S3, the practical shift is toward bringing selected results and files into one local analysis workflow, while keeping the distinction between complete imports and samples visible.
