Set a Midea dehumidifier to 50% relative humidity (RH) as a practical starting point. Midea describes 50% as its typical comfortable setting, but available settings and automatic modes vary by model. Check your unit’s manual before assuming a particular range or button sequence.
How to set a humidity target
- Select Set or manual mode. This is the mode for choosing a specific humidity target on the models covered by the cited manuals.
- Choose 50% RH. Midea’s U.S. dehumidifier FAQ identifies this as a typical comfortable setting.
- Give the unit time to respond. The set point is a target, not a promise that the room will immediately reach that humidity.
For the MAD35S1AWWT and MAD22S1AWWT, the U.S. manual lists a Set-mode range of 35%–85% RH in 5-point increments. A separate U.K. model manual also lists 35%–85% in 5-point increments. These examples do not establish the range for every Midea dehumidifier; consult the manual for the MAD35S1AWWT and MAD22S1AWWT or the manual for your exact model.

What the operating modes mean
| Mode | What to expect | Documented example |
|---|---|---|
| Set or manual | Choose a humidity target, subject to the model’s available range and increments. | The cited U.S. models allow 35%–85% RH in 5-point increments. The separate U.K. manual gives the same range and increments. |
| Continuous | The unit runs continuously; a manually selected humidity target is unavailable in the cited manuals. | Midea’s FAQ and cited manuals describe this behavior. |
| Comfort or Smart | The unit adjusts humidity automatically; the behavior and mode name depend on the model. | Midea’s FAQ says Comfort automatically sets 50%. The cited U.S. manual describes Comfort control from 45%–55% according to room temperature; the U.K. manual gives that range for Smart mode. |
The differences between the FAQ and manuals are a reason to treat automatic-mode details as model-specific rather than assuming every unit targets one exact percentage. See the MDDQ1-12DEN7-QA3 manual for the cited U.K. model.

Why you may not be able to change the humidity
If the controls will not accept a set point, check which mode is active. Continuous mode does not use a manually selected target in the cited documentation, while Comfort or Smart mode may control humidity automatically. Switching to Set or manual mode is the appropriate next step if you want to select a specific target; exact controls vary by model.

How to read the humidity display
Midea says the dehumidifier readout shows humidity rather than temperature. On the cited MAD35S1AWWT and MAD22S1AWWT manual, Set mode displays the selected humidity first, then displays ambient room humidity five seconds later. If the number changes after a brief pause, it may be switching from the target to the room reading.

Midea Canada’s product pages for the MAD50P1AWS and MAD50C1AWS describe adjustable settings from 35% to 85% and call 45%–55% a healthy humidity range. Those are claims for the named Canadian models, not a universal setting specification for all Midea units.
