1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf an episode’s audio file is missing or unreachable in the RSS feed, YouTube’s official guidance does not say exactly what happens: it does not specify whether the episode is skipped, shown as unavailable, or retried. If the episode has already been published and its audio is later replaced, YouTube will not update that video automatically. In YouTube Studio, use Re-upload from RSS feed; YouTube creates a new video and makes the old one private.
First, identify which YouTube podcast workflow you mean
Creators can connect an RSS feed in YouTube Studio so selected episodes are delivered as videos on their YouTube channel. For audio-first shows, YouTube uses the podcast’s show art as a static image. YouTube defines a podcast as a playlist, with episodes represented by videos. See YouTube’s guide to delivering podcasts using an RSS feed.

A separate feature lets a listener add an RSS feed directly to their YouTube Music library. That adds a show to the listener’s personal library; it does not create a creator’s channel video or podcast playlist. YouTube documents fewer features for listener-added feeds, including no audio/video switching, likes or dislikes, sharing, podcast channel page, reporting, or captions. Details are in YouTube Music’s RSS-feed help page.

If the source audio file is missing or unreachable
YouTube’s published RSS-delivery guidance does not specify the result when an episode’s audio enclosure—the URL in the feed that points to the audio file—is absent or cannot be fetched during ingestion. It does not establish whether YouTube skips the item, shows an error or unavailable video, retries automatically, or recovers later. An exact Studio status or viewer-facing message cannot be confirmed from that guidance.

Check the feed before troubleshooting YouTube
- Open the exact RSS feed connected to the channel and confirm the episode is present, with its audio enclosure URL. If the episode is missing from the feed, correct the feed or contact the podcast host. YouTube cannot ingest an item that the feed does not provide; this is a practical consequence of RSS delivery, not a documented error rule.
- If the episode is in the feed, check with the podcast host that the linked audio file is available. The official YouTube guidance does not prescribe a specific fix or retry procedure for an inaccessible enclosure.
- If the episode was just submitted, allow time for initial ingestion. YouTube says feed setup and episode uploads can take a few days; wait for selected episodes to finish uploading before publishing the podcast publicly. That timing is setup guidance, not a guaranteed cure for a missing file. See YouTube’s RSS-delivery guidance.
If you replaced the audio after YouTube published the episode
Replacing an audio file in the RSS feed does not change the audio in an existing YouTube video. YouTube says an RSS-ingested video’s audio cannot be updated once published. To use the corrected audio, re-upload the episode from RSS in Studio. YouTube creates a new video and sets the old video to private; the old video’s metrics, such as views and comments, remain accessible. This is a replacement workflow, not an edit to the original video.
Re-upload the episode
- Open YouTube Studio → Content → Podcasts.
- Open the podcast’s Videos.
- Open the menu for the episode and select Re-upload from RSS feed.
- Allow the new video to be created, then check the podcast playlist and the old video’s visibility.
YouTube documents the re-upload behavior in its RSS-delivery instructions. If you do not see the option, first confirm you are in the creator’s RSS-delivery workflow and that you have selected the episode in that podcast’s Videos.

If the episode was deleted or appears out of order
Deleted video still present in the RSS feed
Deleting an episode video from the YouTube podcast does not remove the episode from the RSS feed. If it remains in the feed, YouTube says the video will be uploaded again. To hide it from the podcast without triggering that re-upload behavior, set the video’s visibility to private. See YouTube’s RSS-delivery guidance.
Episode appears in an unexpected position
For RSS-ingested videos, ordering follows the release date in the RSS feed when one is available; otherwise it follows YouTube’s publish date. YouTube says it does not verify the release date, and the date shown can differ between YouTube surfaces. An episode appearing out of order is therefore not, by itself, evidence that its audio file is missing. See YouTube’s RSS-delivery guidance.

If you are a listener using a feed in YouTube Music
First confirm whether the show was added to your own YouTube Music library or delivered by its creator as a YouTube channel podcast. For a listener-added RSS feed, YouTube says episodes may take minutes or longer to appear in the library. You can remove and re-add the feed from your library, but YouTube does not promise that this will repair an unavailable audio enclosure. It is not a verified fix for a missing source file. See YouTube Music’s RSS-feed help page.
Check regional eligibility for creator RSS delivery
RSS ingestion availability depends on the channel owner’s location. Check YouTube’s current country and region list before setting up creator-side RSS delivery: Deliver podcasts using an RSS feed.
