Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery have combined: Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, 2026. HBO Max and Paramount+ now share an owner, and the company has said it plans to bring its streaming products together into one service over time. No launch date, combined price, service name, or subscriber migration plan has been announced in the sources available as of October 7, 2026.
Will HBO Max and Paramount+ merge?
The companies have described an eventual unified streaming product, but that does not mean the two apps or subscriptions have already merged. On October 6, the Associated Press reported that the plan was to unify streaming products “into a single service over time”; it also said the service name and effects on consumer costs and choices remained unknown. Associated Press, October 6, 2026.

Paramount said in February 2026 that combining Paramount+, HBO Max, and Pluto would create a stronger direct-to-consumer business. That is a corporate strategy statement, not a detailed product announcement with a launch schedule or subscriber terms. Paramount’s announcement.
What has changed for subscribers so far?
The ownership has changed, but the reviewed announcements do not confirm any immediate change to how subscribers use or pay for either service. There is no announced date for a unified app, combined subscription price, account-transfer process, or instruction to cancel or change a plan. The Associated Press reported on October 7 that Skydance still had decisions to make about how to use HBO Max, Paramount+, and the combined content assets. Associated Press, October 7, 2026.
