A clock-shaped symbol in your Samsung phone’s status bar usually means an alarm is activated. Samsung labels this indicator “Alarm activated.” To find out which alarm is on, open the Clock app and check its alarm list. The icon’s appearance and visibility can vary by Galaxy model and software version.
What the clock symbol means
If the symbol appears among the icons at the top of the screen, it usually indicates that an alarm is enabled. Samsung’s Galaxy indicator-icons guide names it “Alarm activated.” It indicates alarm status; it does not identify which alarm is set to ring.

How to check which alarm is active

Open the Clock app on your Samsung phone.

Turn off any alarm you no longer want active.
Why you might not see the icon
The icon can vary by model and software
Samsung notes that indicator icons may differ depending on the phone model and software version. If a symbol is unclear, compare it with Samsung’s guide for your Galaxy device and software.

An app may hide the status bar
If the clock or other status icons disappear only after you open a particular app, that app may be hiding the status bar. Samsung’s One UI 8.5 troubleshooting guide explains that an app’s status-bar configuration can affect whether the bar is shown.
Check the notification or Quick panel
Some Galaxy users have reported that alarm information appears in the notification or Quick panel rather than as a persistent status-bar icon. This is a version-specific user report, not a behavior guaranteed across all Samsung phones. If the icon is missing, check the Clock app’s alarm list first, then look in the notification or Quick panel.

Where it appears: A symbol in the system status bar is different from a clock shown inside an app.

Whether an alarm is enabled: The Clock app’s alarm list is the practical way to confirm the phone’s alarm state.
