MOVE Bank Home Contents Standard may suit a strata owner whose belongings and published cover limits match the policy, but the current product page does not settle whether owner-installed fixtures, fittings or improvements are covered. Before buying, compare the current CGU Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and your certificate with your strata plan and the body-corporate insurance. The limits below are those advertised on MOVE Bank’s current page, not a guarantee of claim payment.
What does Contents Standard cover?
MOVE Bank currently presents Home Contents cover in Standard and Plus tiers. Its page advertises Standard cover for theft and vandalism, flood, storm and storm surge, fire, temporary accommodation, and food spoilage after a covered event. The actual cover depends on the applicable policy wording, conditions, exclusions, excesses and the details on your certificate.

For Contents Standard, MOVE Bank’s current page states temporary accommodation is available for up to 12 months, subject to policy conditions and a cap of 10% of the sum insured. It lists food spoilage cover up to $500. These are published benefit limits, not claims-performance figures. Check the current PDS and certificate for how the limits operate and what events qualify. Plus extends the advertised temporary-accommodation period to up to two years and includes accidental damage and motor burnout automatically, whereas the page presents those as optional covers for contents outside Plus. MOVE Bank also says Plus has higher limits for some benefits, including food spoilage: up to $2,000, compared with up to $500 for Standard.

The page does not provide a complete side-by-side schedule of every limit in the summary. Compare the current PDS, your quote and certificate for the specific cover, sublimits and excesses that apply to you.

These figures and inclusions are from MOVE Bank’s current product page, accessed in 2026; the page does not display a publication date. The policy documents and certificate determine the contract. Standard may fit someone comfortable with its published limits and selecting optional benefits where available. Plus is worth pricing if automatic accidental-damage and motor-burnout cover, longer temporary accommodation or higher limits matter to you. Neither tier can be called better without your needs, sum insured and quote.

Are valuable and portable belongings included?
Valuable contents
MOVE Bank says general contents cover is subject to a $2,500 per-category limit for the valuable-content categories it identifies. The optional Valuable Contents benefit can increase cover. Check the current PDS for the categories, conditions and any requirement to list individual items; do not assume a high-value possession is insured for its full replacement value under general contents cover.
Portable contents
Portable Contents is an optional benefit, not automatic cover for every item. MOVE Bank describes it as applying to eligible belongings such as jewellery, laptops, phones and glasses when away from home, with cover for loss, theft and accidental damage. The page states a limit of up to $10,000 per item unless an item is separately listed for more. Eligibility, restrictions and territorial limits apply, so check the PDS and certificate for the item and circumstances you want covered.

What strata owners should verify before buying
The current MOVE Bank page does not explain whether a strata-unit owner can buy Contents Standard in every circumstance or where cover for owner-installed fixtures, fittings and improvements ends and body-corporate insurance begins. That boundary matters: a contents policy should not be treated as proof that the building or an owner-funded alteration is covered.
- Review the strata plan. Identify which parts of the unit are common property and which are part of your lot, including any alterations or improvements.
- Read the body-corporate insurance details. Confirm what the building policy insures and whether it addresses the fixtures or fittings in question.
- Check the current CGU PDS and your certificate. Look for the current definitions and cover applicable to contents, fixtures, fittings, improvements and liability. Do not rely on older policy wording as current terms.
- Ask CGU directly about your specific situation. Describe the fixture, fitting or improvement and ask whether it is covered, under which policy, and whether any unit-owner liability cover applies. Obtain an answer you can retain and check it against the issued policy documents.
An older MOVE Bank-hosted First Choice PDS described certain fixtures and fittings installed by a tenant or strata-title unit owner as contents unless insured by the body corporate or a similar body. It also listed strata-title mortgagee protection as an optional benefit. That document is historical and is not evidence of the current CGU policy wording. How to check the quote and policy terms
MOVE Bank says it offers online quotes and payment fortnightly, monthly or quarterly at no extra cost. The premium and excess for your circumstances must be checked in the quote and policy documents; the published benefit limits alone do not establish the total cost or suitability.

- Check the proposed sum insured against the cost of replacing your belongings, and review the certificate for selected options, excesses and item listings.
- Read the PDS for definitions, limits, exclusions and conditions before deciding. MOVE Bank’s page advises: “For detailed terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions, please read the Product Disclosure Statement.”
MOVE Bank says the cover is issued by Insurance Australia Limited under the CGU brand and distributed by MoveBank Ltd. Its April 2025 announcement describes an insurance-range refresh in partnership with CGU; for today’s benefits and limits, use the current product page and policy documents rather than relying on the announcement.
