What does Meta’s Muse remember about the people in your life? A report published on October 3, 2026, says September exports of Muse instruction files describe an hourly background job called Relationships that maintains pages about people and groups in a user’s life. The reported template includes Facts, History, and The relationship; the instructions reportedly tell Muse to rely on supported evidence rather than guess at dates.
What the reported instructions say Muse does
The October 3 report says it reviewed September exports of Meta Muse instruction files. In those inspected files, a background job named Relationships is instructed to maintain pages about people and groups in a user’s life, with pages ordered by closeness. One extracted line quoted in the report reads: “Muse keeps a page for every person in the user’s life”. Read the reported extracted instruction.

That line is an instruction attributed to an extracted file, not a public statement from Meta. It describes what the file tells Muse to do; by itself, it does not establish that every user has such pages or that the job always runs as specified. Report on the September instruction-file exports.

- The relationship: a section about the connection between the user and that person.
The reported instructions say to use supported evidence and not guess dates. This is a stated constraint in the inspected material, not independent evidence that every page is accurate, complete, or consistently written that way. Details on the reported page template.
The report’s title also refers to tips for improving relationships, but the supplied description of the template specifically establishes the three sections above. It does not establish the exact contents of every page or what advice, if any, a particular user might see.

What this evidence does—and does not—show
| Source | What it supports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Report on September exports of instruction files | A reported hourly Relationships job, pages for people and groups, and a person-page template with Facts, History, and The relationship. | That the instructions are followed consistently across accounts, that every user has these pages, or that any page is accurate or complete. |
| Meta’s public Muse page | Meta describes Muse as an AI agent that connects to apps, works in the background, and provides permissions and an activity trail. | Independent verification of privacy or security, or a complete explanation of persistent relationship memory, its data sources, retention, or deletion. |
The report about the inspected instructions and Meta’s public Muse description answer different questions: one reports intended behavior in a particular inspected copy of instruction files; the other describes product capabilities and controls as presented by the vendor. Neither, on its own, settles what information feeds a particular relationship page or how long it is retained.
What remains unknown about relationship memory
The consulted material does not independently show which data sources feed a specific page, how reliably the instructions are followed, or how accurate the resulting information is. It also does not provide a complete account of retention or deletion for relationship information. Meta’s descriptions of permissions and an activity trail are relevant product claims, but they do not answer those unresolved questions.
