#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
| Displayed tier | Washington-area monthly price | Local-page detail |
|---|---|---|
| 300 Mbps | $30 | Auto Pay pricing |
| 500 Mbps | $65 | Auto Pay pricing |
| 1 Gig, up to 940/880 Mbps | $80 | Auto Pay pricing |
| 2 Gig | $90 | Listed average wired speeds: 1.5–2.3 Gbps |
| 5 Gig | $100 | Listed average wired speeds: 4.5–5.3 Gbps |
The national and Washington-area displays should not be merged into a single rate card. Verizon’s plan menu and displayed price can differ by market, and the Washington figures are an example for that area—not a promise of the same offer elsewhere.
What determines your actual Fios bill?
- Whether Fios serves your address: Verizon offers Fios only in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Its availability information identifies metros and directs customers to check a ZIP code or address.
- The offer shown for your location: Local plans and prices may differ from the national page. Check the address-specific results before choosing a speed tier.
- Billing discounts: Auto Pay and paper-free billing can be conditions of displayed prices. Verify eligibility and the terms shown at checkout.
- One-time setup charges: Verizon’s moving page advertises a particular Fios 300 Mbps offer at $30 per month and says a $99 setup charge and other terms apply. That is an offer-specific term, not evidence that every new Fios customer pays $99.
- Included equipment and speed conditions: Verizon says routers are included on the plans on its national page. Actual wired and wireless speeds can vary with device limits, simultaneous users and network conditions.
- Promotions: Treat gift cards or entertainment offers as separate, time-limited promotional value—not as a reduction in the recurring monthly price unless the order terms explicitly say otherwise.
How to compare the tiers before ordering
Start with the recurring price Verizon displays after you enter your address, then compare the plan features that affect your household rather than choosing by the speed label alone.

- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
- Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
- Check your address. Use Verizon’s Fios availability information or enter your address through Verizon’s ordering flow. Do not assume Fios is available because it serves a nearby city.
- Compare the available monthly prices. Confirm whether the price requires Auto Pay or paper-free billing, how long any price guarantee lasts, and whether a displayed promotion is temporary.
- Match speed to use. Most Fios tiers offer similar download and upload speeds, which can help with video calls, gaming and large uploads. Consider how many people and devices use the connection at once.
- Check total upfront and equipment terms. Review the order summary for setup charges and confirm what router or other equipment is included rather than assuming a separate purchase is required.
- Use the advertised tier as a plan description, not a speed-test promise. Verizon cautions that measured wired and wireless performance varies; a Wi-Fi test can also reflect the device and home network, not just the service tier.
What the speed labels mean
A plan’s Mbps or Gbps figure describes its advertised speed tier. Verizon’s national page describes 1 Gig as up to 940 Mbps; the Washington-area page shows up to 940 Mbps download and 880 Mbps upload for its 1 Gig listing. For its Washington 2 Gig and 5 Gig plans, that page lists average wired speeds of 1.5–2.3 Gbps and 4.5–5.3 Gbps, respectively. These are page-specific descriptions, not guarantees of the speed every customer will measure on every device.
