argenx SE is an antibody-based immunology biotechnology company. Its established commercial business is built around efgartigimod medicines in the VYVGART franchise, while its Immunology Innovation Program, internal research and partnerships feed a broader pipeline of potential treatments. The company sells directly in selected markets and licenses commercialization rights in others.
What does argenx do?
argenx develops antibody-based medicines for immune and neuromuscular diseases. Its research model brings academic researchers together with in-house antibody engineers and clinical-development teams. The company says candidates in both its wholly owned and partnered pipelines have emerged from its Immunology Innovation Program (IIP), which combines target research, antibody discovery and drug development.

The business has two connected parts: commercializing approved medicines, led by efgartigimod, and investing in additional candidates that may address other diseases or patient groups. Pipeline programs remain investigational unless and until regulators approve them for a specific use.

What is VYVGART?
VYVGART is the principal brand in argenx’s efgartigimod franchise. Efgartigimod is an engineered fragment of an IgG1 antibody that targets the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). By blocking FcRn-mediated recycling of immunoglobulin G (IgG), it reduces circulating IgG; argenx says this mechanism does not affect antibody production or other parts of the immune system.

The medicine is sold under different brand names and presentations depending on the market. In the company’s February 2026 approval summary, argenx reported approvals in more than 30 countries across three indications and three presentations, and described VYVDURA approvals for generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), as well as immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in Japan. An approval in one country does not establish approval or availability elsewhere; local product labels determine the approved uses and presentations.
U.S. adult gMG label expansion
On May 8, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved an expansion of VYVGART and VYVGART HYTRULO for adults with gMG across anti-AChR-positive, anti-MuSK-positive, anti-LRP4-positive and triple-seronegative serotypes. This is a U.S.-specific regulatory action and should not be read as a change to labels in other countries. Read argenx’s May 8, 2026 announcement.
How does argenx make money?
argenx earns revenue primarily from sales of the VYVGART franchise, supplemented by collaboration and licensing arrangements. It reports using its own sales force for VYVGART in the United States, Japan, Europe and Canada for gMG and CIDP where approved. In Greater China—Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau—the company has granted Zai Lab an exclusive license to develop and commercialize efgartigimod. The arrangement includes sales-based milestones and royalties tied to annual product net sales.
argenx reported the following company figures. Product net sales are the company’s reported franchise sales, not an independent measure of market share or comparative performance.
| Company-reported measure | Period | Reported value |
|---|---|---|
| Global VYVGART franchise product net sales | 2024 | $2.2 billion |
| Global VYVGART franchise product net sales | 2025 | $4.2 billion |
| Research and development investment | 2025 | $1.4 billion |
The company described 2025 as its second year of profitability. The sales figures show the scale of the commercial franchise, while R&D spending supports the effort to develop additional medicines. See argenx’s 2025 results and 2026 outlook.
What is in argenx’s drug pipeline?
The pipeline includes efforts to extend efgartigimod into additional diseases as well as candidates with different biological targets. Development stages and regulatory status are distinct for each program; none of the investigational candidates below should be treated as an approved alternative.

Efgartigimod in additional indications
argenx’s 2025 annual report says efgartigimod is being studied in more than ten additional serious autoimmune indications. Its 2026 outlook identifies studies and anticipated readouts in ocular myasthenia gravis, myositis, primary ITP and Sjögren’s disease. These are company development plans and expected readouts, not approved uses or guaranteed trial outcomes.

Adimanebart (ARGX-119): neuromuscular junction
Adimanebart is a MuSK agonist being developed for neuromuscular-junction disorders. argenx lists Phase 3 development for congenital myasthenic syndromes and Phase 2 development for spinal muscular atrophy.
Next-generation FcRn and earlier-stage programs
ARGX-213 and ARGX-124 are earlier-stage FcRn candidates. In its 2026 outlook, argenx anticipated that ARGX-213 would enter patient trials and that ARGX-124 would complete Phase 1 during 2026; those statements describe expectations, not confirmed completed milestones.
Other programs listed by the company include ARGX-109, which targets IL-6; ARGX-121, which targets IgA; and TSP-101, a collaboration with Tensegrity Pharma targeting Fn14. The 2026 outlook also anticipated that ARGX-118 and ARGX-125 would enter Phase 1. These timing statements are company guidance and may change. View argenx’s pipeline.
What is argenx’s Vision 2030?
Vision 2030 is a management ambition, not an achieved result or guaranteed forecast. The company’s stated goals are to treat 50,000 patients globally, secure ten labeled indications across approved medicines, and advance five pipeline candidates into Phase 3 by 2030. The goals appear in argenx’s 2026 outlook.
