You save $200 at the US launch price by choosing the Google Pixel 11, but you give up the Pro model’s sharper and brighter LTPO display, higher-resolution cameras, stronger zoom processing, 8K Video Boost recording, Wi‑Fi 7, and HiLight notification LEDs. You do not give up the Tensor G6 processor, a 5x optical telephoto camera, 30W wired charging, 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging, or Google’s seven-year update commitment.
The short version
The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro are built around the same core platform, so the standard phone is not a slower or short-lived alternative. The meaningful sacrifices are concentrated in the screen, imaging hardware, connectivity generation, and a handful of Pro-only conveniences.

What remains the same
Both phones use Google’s Tensor G6 platform and are rated for more than 30 hours of battery life. Each supports 30W wired charging and up to 25W Qi2.2 Pixelsnap wireless charging. Both receive seven years of operating-system, security, and Pixel Drop updates.

Storage starts at 256GB on both models. The Pixel 11 is offered in 256GB and 512GB capacities, with 12GB of RAM at either capacity. The 256GB Pixel 11 Pro also has 12GB of RAM; its 512GB and 1TB versions increase memory to 16GB. Therefore, buying the Pro does not automatically provide more RAM unless you select one of its two larger storage tiers.

This shared hardware explains why the standard phone can feel much like the Pro in ordinary use. TechRadar staff writer Nico Arboleda wrote that after a month with the Pixel 11 he could not discern a meaningful performance difference in multitasking, gaming, demanding apps, or AI features. That is an individual hands-on assessment, not a controlled laboratory comparison.
Display: sharper text, brighter highlights and smoother low-power behavior are Pro-only
Both models have a 6.3-inch panel, so the physical size does not change. The Pixel 11 uses a 1080 × 2424 OLED at 422 pixels per inch. The Pixel 11 Pro raises resolution to 1280 × 2856 and density to 495 pixels per inch. Small text, fine lines in photos, and high-resolution video can look more defined on the Pro, particularly when viewed close up.
The panel technology also differs. Pixel 11 offers a 60–120Hz refresh range. Pixel 11 Pro uses LTPO technology and can vary from 1Hz to 120Hz. A 1Hz minimum lets a compatible screen remain nearly static while using less power for content such as an always-on display, a clock, or a paused page. The standard model can still reach 120Hz for scrolling, but it does not provide that stated 1Hz floor.

- Google Pixel 10 Pro is the ultimate Pixel experience, featuring advanced AI with Gemini, unbelievable camera quality, impeccable design in two sizes, and the next-gen Google Tensor G5 chip[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works - Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[11]
- Pixel’s pro camera system makes everything look amazing, even in low light; capture more of the scene with advanced Google AI models, and bring out incredible details with 100x Pro Res Zoom, stunning 50 MP images, and super steady videos in 8K[10]
- Pixel 10 Pro is built with durable aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch and drop resistance; the 6.3-inch Super Actua display with 3,300-nit peak brightness is easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight[3,13,18]
Google rates peak brightness at 3,000 nits for Pixel 11 and 3,600 nits for Pixel 11 Pro. Peak figures are normally reserved for limited portions of the display under specific conditions, so they should not be read as a promise that the entire screen stays at those levels. Nevertheless, the Pro has more stated headroom for bright outdoor highlights. Google also specifies an anti-scratch shield on the Pro’s cover glass; no equivalent shield is listed for Pixel 11.
Who will notice the display gap?
- Outdoor readers and photographers: the Pro’s higher peak rating may make bright content easier to see in difficult sunlight.
- People who inspect text or images closely: the 495-ppi panel provides finer pixel density.
- Always-on-display users: the LTPO panel’s 1Hz capability is the relevant advantage.
- Casual indoor users: the standard OLED still supplies a 120Hz mode and the same 6.3-inch footprint.
Cameras: the Pixel 11 keeps a real telephoto, but the Pro has better hardware throughout
Choosing Pixel 11 does not mean losing optical zoom. It has a dedicated 10.8MP 5x telephoto camera, and the Pro also has a 5x optical telephoto. The difference is sensor resolution: Pixel 11 Pro’s telephoto is 48MP. Google says the new Pro telephoto has 30% more light sensitivity than its predecessor, a manufacturer claim rather than an independent measurement.
The main camera is 48MP on Pixel 11 and 50MP on Pixel 11 Pro. The ultrawide gap is larger: Pixel 11 lists 13MP, while the Pro uses a 48MP ultrawide with Macro Focus. That gives the Pro more capture resolution for cropping and adds a specified close-focus mode. Whether those advantages matter depends on how often you shoot landscapes, architecture, close-up subjects, or images that will be edited and cropped.

- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
Google lists Super Zoom up to 30x on Pixel 11 and Pro Zoom up to 120x on Pixel 11 Pro. A larger number does not equal four times the useful detail. At extreme magnifications, the phone combines optical information with computational processing, and Google cautions that 120x results vary and are not available in every camera, app, or mode. The practical loss is access to the Pro’s higher ceiling and processing mode, not the loss of a 5x lens.

Google’s August announcement specifically calls out Portrait Mode at 5x on Pixel 11 Pro. The Pro also has a 42MP autofocus front camera, compared with 10.5MP on Pixel 11. Higher resolution and autofocus can help with detailed selfies, group framing, and video calls where the subject moves relative to the phone. Pixel 11’s front camera remains functional for ordinary selfies and calls, but it lacks those listed Pro specifications.
Video and manual imaging features
Pixel 11’s listed rear-video maximum is 4K. Pixel 11 Pro adds 8K recording at 24 or 30 frames per second using Video Boost, along with Pro controls and high-resolution 50MP capture options. Those features are aimed at people who want more control over exposure and focus, or who intend to crop and reframe footage after recording.

8K files are much larger than 4K files, and editing or sharing them can require more storage and a capable computer or phone workflow. If your normal output is social media video, messaging clips, or 4K television playback, the Pro’s recording mode may be unnecessary. If you produce footage, photograph subjects at distance, or routinely adjust images after capture, the hardware and controls are easier to justify.

Pixel 11 supports Wi‑Fi 6E; Pixel 11 Pro moves to Wi‑Fi 7. The benefit depends on having a Wi‑Fi 7 router, compatible network configuration, and a congested or high-throughput environment where the newer standard can help. With an older router, the phone cannot create Wi‑Fi 7 performance by itself.

Google says users can assign colors to callers and that Gemini interactions can trigger different light patterns. The feature is intended to communicate a glanceable alert while the phone is face down; it is not a replacement for reading the notification, and Pixel 11 does not list it.

Google’s launch statement also says its Pro phones include six months of Google AI Pro, with higher Gemini usage, 5TB of cloud storage, and Google Health Premium. Eligibility, terms, and geographic availability can change, so treat that as a launch offer to verify rather than a permanent hardware entitlement.
Price: the $200 difference is a launch reference, not a current quote
Google announced US starting prices of $899 for Pixel 11 and $1,099 for Pixel 11 Pro on August 12, 2026. The arithmetic difference is $200. Those are historical launch prices; they do not establish what Google or retailers charge today, whether a sale is running, or whether a particular storage tier is in stock.
For a fair purchase decision, compare the exact storage capacity and the current price at the time you buy. A discounted Pro can narrow the gap, while a higher-capacity Pixel 11 can cost more than the base launch figure. The specifications above remain the useful guide when prices move.
Which phone fits which buyer?
Choose Pixel 11 when these priorities describe you
- You want a 6.3-inch flagship-sized phone at the lower launch price.
- You need a genuine 5x optical telephoto but do not require a 48MP telephoto sensor or 120x Pro Zoom.
- Your photography is mostly standard main-camera, ultrawide, and everyday portrait work.
- 4K video is sufficient and you do not need manual Pro controls or 8K Video Boost.
- Your router is Wi‑Fi 6E or older, making Wi‑Fi 7 less immediately useful.
- You value the same Tensor G6 platform, charging limits, battery-life rating, and seven-year update policy without paying for display and camera upgrades.
Choose Pixel 11 Pro when these upgrades solve a real problem
- You read outdoors or care about maximum sharpness and brightness from a 6.3-inch screen.
- You shoot ultrawide images, close-ups, distant subjects, portraits at 5x, or selfies where higher-resolution and autofocus hardware matter.
- You want 8K at 24/30fps, 50MP options, or dedicated Pro controls.
- You already use, or plan to install, a Wi‑Fi 7 network.
- You would use HiLight’s assignable caller and Gemini light patterns.
- You need 16GB of RAM and are willing to buy the 512GB or 1TB Pro tier; the 256GB Pro remains a 12GB model.
A practical decision rule
Start with the features you cannot add later. A case, storage workflow, or router can change around the phone, but the panel, camera sensors, front-camera autofocus, and Pro-only LEDs are fixed at purchase. If none of those differences affects your daily use, Pixel 11 preserves the core experience and saves the launch-price premium. If even one is central—especially the display, telephoto quality, ultrawide macro work, or 8K production—Pixel 11 Pro is the model that supplies it.
