Which data sources does the Android Auto example name?
Google’s example is a friend texting to ask for an address. Magic Cue is described as finding the answer using information from text messages, email, or calendar, then offering a one-tap reply. The announcement does not say that every suggestion checks all three sources, or that those are the only data involved.
Google has not published a field-by-field inventory for this specific Android Auto scenario. Its announcement does not spell out exactly what information is examined for each suggestion, how long it is retained, or the precise processing path. Google’s Android in-cars announcement describes the example and its planned timing.
How this relates to Magic Cue on Pixel
Google’s broader Pixel documentation describes Magic Cue as configurable: users can choose suggestion types and data sources. Those general Pixel capabilities provide context, but they should not be treated as a complete list of sources used for the Android Auto address reply.

- Foundational Google Account data: Google gives email address and phone number as examples of account information that can be used if enabled.
- Context of use: The help page gives examples such as a question received in a chat, the business being called, or the app being searched.
Other Pixel examples include finding a flight time for a text, surfacing an order number during a return call, or using a recently viewed product in a shopping app. Google’s Pixel Store page says Magic Cue can connect information from apps, email, screenshots, and more, and identifies Magic Cue as exclusive to Pixel 10 series phones. These broader examples do not establish that those sources are used for the Android Auto address suggestion. Can you limit what Magic Cue uses?
Google says Pixel users can manage Magic Cue suggestion types and data sources in Settings, including recent screen activity and foundational account data. The help page also says a third-party app can be excluded by turning off Proactive Assistance for that app. To check a particular suggestion, press and hold it to see its source or adjust settings. Google advises checking suggestions before sharing information, especially when they involve sensitive details, contacts, invoices, payment reminders, or calendar changes. For Workspace Gmail, Calendar, or Keep data, Google says Workspace smart features must be enabled. The relevant controls and dependency are documented for Pixel Magic Cue; Google has not separately detailed how each setting applies to the announced Android Auto address suggestion.
What Google says about processing and privacy
Google describes Magic Cue as operating in a secure, isolated environment on the device or in the cloud. Its broader Android security explanation says people control whether data is shared with apps or Gemini through settings, permission screens, or actions such as tapping a Magic Cue suggestion. These are Google’s stated design and security claims, not an independent audit of the specific Android Auto data flow. Google’s Android security post describes its protections for proactive assistance.

Android’s current help page separately describes Android Auto smart actions: summaries of long or group messages read aloud, suggested replies, playlist recommendations, and one-tap navigation to destinations such as home or work. That page does not identify those actions as Magic Cue or specify their data sources. Keep those documented smart actions distinct from the later-in-2026 Magic Cue announcement. Google says the Android Auto integration is planned for later in 2026 and requires Gemini Intelligence on the phone. The announcement does not provide an exact release date, country rollout, compatible vehicle or head-unit list, or complete eligibility details. Google’s Pixel Store page names Pixel 10 series as the phones with Magic Cue, but the Android Auto announcement does not fully specify which phone models will support the integration beyond the Gemini Intelligence requirement.

Google’s 2026 announcement also cites more than 250 million Android Auto-compatible cars on the road and more than 100 Google-built-in models from 16 brands. Those are ecosystem figures, not counts of vehicles eligible for Magic Cue. Google has not published a Magic Cue accuracy, frequency, or personal-data-field count for the Android Auto example.
