These are live-ingest recommendations, not upload-video settings. Running the stream continuously does not change the bitrate recommendation.
Choose the bitrate by codec and frame rate
YouTube’s published live-ingest recommendations for 1080p are:

Use the row for the feed your encoder actually sends to YouTube—not merely the codec or frame rate of the original file. If your video is 30 fps, do not select the 60 fps recommendation unless you are encoding the outgoing stream at 60 fps. YouTube transcodes live streams for different playback formats and devices. Its recommendations are for live ingest; uploaded-video encoding guidance is a separate matter. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
Set up the outgoing stream
For a typical 1080p pre-recorded stream, configure the encoder or streaming service to send the source at its actual frame rate and use the matching bitrate from the table. The remaining settings and network margin affect whether that feed stays stable.

- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: One every 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: RTMPS where supported.
- Audio: AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS; YouTube lists 128 kbps for stereo audio.
Consult YouTube’s live streaming encoder settings for the current ingest guidance. The bitrate figure in the table is video bitrate, not the complete network load: audio and any other outbound traffic also use capacity.
Allow upload headroom
YouTube advises keeping about 20% more upload capacity than the total outgoing stream bitrate. For a 14 Mbps video stream, that simple calculation is 16.8 Mbps before adding separate audio, backup feeds, or other traffic on the connection. If other devices or applications share the connection, their use reduces the capacity available to the stream. A network disruption can interrupt a live feed, so the bitrate setting alone cannot guarantee stability. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and its stream health information.

Test with representative content
Before relying on a continuous broadcast, test with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitor YouTube’s stream health. A mostly static recording may behave differently from footage with frequent movement, but choose the bitrate according to the outgoing codec and frame rate—not simply because the stream is long.

A 24-hour broadcast is longer than YouTube’s 12-hour automatic-archive window. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its DVR guidance also warns that rewind can be limited or unavailable on very long streams. These limitations concern the archive and DVR, not the live-ingest bitrate. If a dependable replay or rewind matters, plan shorter broadcast sessions and keep a local recording as a backup. Check YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR settings and limitations.

Run the stream from your own encoder or the cloud
DIY: use an encoder-based workflow
YouTube accepts encoder-based streaming through software or hardware encoders. Configure the encoder to send the prerecorded content to YouTube Live using the appropriate stream key and the ingest settings above. Keep the encoding computer and its internet connection available for the full broadcast, and check YouTube’s stream health during operation.
For a hardware option, YouTube lists AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream function as scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live. This is an optional workflow device, not a requirement for selecting or sending the recommended bitrate. See YouTube’s live-streaming equipment information.
