Abyss Points (AP) are AION 2’s currency for Abyss progression. You can reportedly earn them from duty missions, rift quests, supply requests, arenas, monsters, player encounters and sieges, then spend them in the Abyss Shop on items such as Stigma Shards, Abyssal manastones, Daevanion crystals, PvP equipment and wings. AP are not the same as ranking points: NCSOFT’s February 11, 2026 update says PvP deaths were changed to reduce ranking points instead of AP in that update context. Exact rewards, prices and death rules can vary by region and patch, so the live client is the final authority.
What are Abyss Points in AION 2?
AP are an in-game currency earned through activities connected with the Abyss. They function on the currency and progression side of Abyss play: you accumulate AP, check your balance, and exchange the points for Abyss-related equipment and upgrade materials.

That makes AP broader than a simple PvP score. Player-versus-player combat is one reported source, but current guides also list missions, quests, supply requests, structured arenas, monsters and siege participation. A character can therefore interact with the AP system without treating player kills as the only objective.
AP and ranking points measure different things
AION 2 uses more than one point system in the Abyss. AP are spendable currency. Ranking points are a separate progression or competitive measure used for standing. NCSOFT’s February 11, 2026 announcement specifically distinguishes them by saying: “Additionally, PvP deaths will now reduce ranking points instead of Abyss Points, and overall efficiency within the Abyss Corridor has been enhanced.”

Do not assume that a number shown beside your rank is your spendable AP balance. Use the currency value shown in the Abyss interface when deciding whether you can afford an item, and use the ranking display when evaluating competitive standing.
How do you get Abyss Points?
The following activities are reported AP sources. Their availability and reward values are not established as one universal Global ruleset, so treat the examples as ways to look for AP rather than guaranteed payouts.
Abyss duty missions
Duty missions are repeatable or scheduled objectives associated with Abyss layers. A current Aion2 Guide example lists 1,000 AP for a lower-layer duty mission and 2,000 AP for a middle-layer duty mission. Those figures are guide-reported examples from 2026 and should be checked against the mission panel in your region and patch.

A higher-layer objective may show a larger AP amount but also require more travel, stronger enemies or a group. The practical return is the reward divided by the time and risk you actually spend, not the headline number alone.
Rift quests
Rift quests are another reported route. The same guide gives 2,000 AP per listed rift quest as an example. Rift content can involve moving through a contested area or completing an objective near a temporary connection, so the listed reward does not remove the possibility of encounters with other players.
Read the quest text and reward preview in your client. A guide value can describe a particular rift, layer or release version rather than every rift currently available.

Daily and weekly quests
Third-party coverage also reports daily and weekly quests as AP sources. These can be useful for players who prefer a predictable checklist to open-zone farming. Because reset schedules and reward tables are especially likely to change with patches, record the reset time and reward shown by your own quest tracker rather than relying on an old list.

Supply requests
Supply requests are reported as a non-kill-oriented way to earn AP. They may involve collecting, delivering or completing logistical objectives. This route can reduce your dependence on winning fights, although the Abyss remains a contested environment and another player can still appear while you travel or perform the request.
Before starting one, verify the destination, deadline and AP reward. If the request sends you through a high-traffic corridor, include the risk of interruption in your route decision.
Arenas and other structured activities
Current guides name Arenas of Solitude and Cooperation and Strategy Arena among reported AP activities. These are structured options rather than open-zone monster grinding. Their matchmaking, entry requirements and reward rules can differ, so check the activity window for the AP payout and whether the reward is participation-based, result-based or tied to a daily limit.
Structured activities can make AP income easier to plan because the objective and duration are clearer than an unplanned trip through a contested zone. They are not automatically the best choice for every class or queue time; the available evidence does not establish a universal ranking of methods.

Guides list Abyss monsters as another reported source. The amount may vary by enemy, location, event and patch. Monster farming is attractive when you want to combine AP with ordinary combat drops, but it can be slower than a high-value mission and may expose you to players contesting the same area.

Player kills and other player encounters
Player kills are included in reported AP routes, but they are only one route. Do not build your entire plan around finding opponents or assume every successful fight grants the same amount. Rewards can depend on the current rules, the target and any anti-farming or ranking mechanics applied by the server.
Sieges and large-scale objectives
Sieges are also listed as possible AP activities. They can concentrate many players in one objective and may award AP under event-specific rules. Check the siege schedule, participation conditions and reward summary in the live client. A siege reward should not be treated as a permanent daily amount unless the game explicitly labels it that way.
Which AP method should you choose?
No published evidence establishes one best AP farm for every region, class, schedule and risk tolerance. Compare activities using the factors that affect your actual session:

If you want lower dependence on winning fights, start with quests or supply requests and add structured activities when their reward windows fit your schedule. If you enjoy open-zone combat, monsters, player encounters and sieges can combine AP earning with that play style. The choice is a risk-and-time decision, not a confirmed universal ranking.
What can you buy with Abyss Points?
AP are spent in the Abyss Shop. A current guide lists these examples:
- Stigma Shards, used in the Stigma progression system.
- Abyssal manastones, equipment-related enhancement materials.
- Azphel Daevanion crystals, a named crystal resource.
- PvP gear, equipment intended for competitive combat progression.
- Wings, cosmetic or progression-related items depending on the live item definition.
The shop inventory is not proven to be identical in every region or patch. An Aion2 Guide listing reports Stigma Shard prices ranging from 10,000 to 25,000 AP. Those are guide-reported examples, not a guaranteed current Global price list. Open the item tooltip in your client before planning a purchase.

Prioritize purchases according to your immediate bottleneck. A material that unlocks an upgrade now can be more useful than a long-term cosmetic goal, while a player preparing specifically for competitive content may value gear first. Do not spend based on a screenshot or an old guide if the shop tooltip shows a different cost.

The answer depends on the region and update context. NCSOFT’s February 11, 2026 AION 2 announcement says that PvP deaths will reduce ranking points instead of Abyss Points in that update. A current guide identifies the change with the Korean service and warns that Global rules should be confirmed in game.
Therefore, do not treat “death never costs AP” as a timeless, worldwide rule. Check the death-result message, ranking display and current patch notes for your service. The key distinction is that a ranking-point penalty is not a deduction from the spendable AP balance.
How to check your live AP balance and rules
Because guides can lag behind a regional update, use this in-client check whenever you return after a patch:
- Open the game’s Abyss interface—the panel that displays your Abyss currency and related progression.
- Record the AP balance separately from any ranking-point value shown nearby.
- Open the Abyss Shop from the Abyss interface and inspect the item tooltip for the current price, stock, level requirement and purchase limit.
- Open an available duty mission, rift quest, supply request or arena entry and read the displayed AP reward before accepting it.
- After an activity, compare the before-and-after AP balance. If only ranking points changed after a death, that matches the distinction described in NCSOFT’s February 2026 update.
- If the result conflicts with an external guide, follow the client and the latest notes for your service; record the region, patch and activity name before reporting a suspected bug.
Common mistakes with AP
Confusing AP with rank
Ranking points can change without changing your spendable currency. Always inspect the label next to the number before deciding whether you can afford a shop item.
Assuming every AP route is PvP
Player kills are reported, but so are missions, rifts, supply requests, arenas, monsters and sieges. If you prefer not to duel for every point, build a plan around quests and structured activities while accepting that travel through the Abyss can still be contested.
Treating an Asian-release value as a Global guarantee
Aion 2 Maps labels its earning details as based on the Asian release. The current Aion2 Guide also warns that some Global values are unpublished or variable. Use such figures as orientation only and verify the reward in your own client.
Planning around an old shop price
The 10,000–25,000 AP Stigma Shard range is a reported guide example. Prices and inventory can change. Check the tooltip immediately before purchase, especially after a major update or regional rollout.
Ignoring reset limits and travel time
A large displayed reward may come with a daily, weekly or event limit. A lower reward close to your current location can be more efficient than a longer trip through a dangerous corridor. Compare the complete objective, not just the AP number.
What is certain and what remains patch-sensitive?
The durable model is straightforward: AP are Abyss currency, multiple PvE and PvP-adjacent activities can award them, and the Abyss Shop is where reported rewards are spent. The uncertain details are the exact reward table, item stock, prices, caps, reset schedules and death penalties for a particular service.
For that reason, keep three pieces of context with every number you see: the region, the patch or update date, and whether the figure comes from an official announcement or a third-party guide. NCSOFT’s February 2026 announcement is the authoritative reference for the change it describes; guide figures such as 1,000 AP, 2,000 AP and 10,000–25,000 AP remain examples that require in-game confirmation.
A practical AP routine
Start each session by checking available daily or weekly quests and the current Abyss Shop targets. Choose one or two objectives whose displayed rewards match your time. Complete a duty or rift objective, add a supply request if its route is safe enough, and use an arena or siege when its schedule fits. Farm monsters or seek player encounters only when the expected reward justifies the open-zone risk. Before logging out, spend AP only after checking whether a future upgrade, event item or gear requirement makes saving more valuable.
This approach treats AP as a flexible progression budget rather than a mandatory PvP score. It also leaves room for the rules to change: the client’s current reward, price and death messages take precedence over any fixed list.
