Snapchat’s public help pages do not explain what a halo above a Bitmoji means. There is no confirmed basis for treating it as a sign of someone’s location, activity, relationship, online status, or privacy settings. Snapchat does document location badges and Actionmoji, but it does not identify the halo as either one.
What Snapchat confirms—and what it doesn’t
Snapchat says a special Bitmoji badge may appear when it thinks someone is at a place such as home or school. The badge can show on the Map, beside a friend’s name in Friend Finder or Friends Feed, or beside a location in a Chat header. The support page does not say that a halo is one of these badges or define what a halo represents. Snapchat’s location-badge guide says only friends who share their location with each other can see each other’s badges.

Snapchat also describes Actionmoji as Bitmoji poses or activities that give friends a quick sense of what someone might be doing. These can be based on contextual signals such as general area, time of day, or movement. The Actionmoji guide does not identify a halo as an Actionmoji or assign it a meaning. A halo might be a visual element or a feature not explained in the help pages, but that is only a possibility—not a confirmed answer. Snapchat’s Actionmoji guide

Location badges

Actionmoji and selected poses
Actionmoji are poses or activities on the Map, not a documented explanation for a halo. Snapchat says a selected My Pose remains on the Map for four hours. Bitmoji Support says a selected Snap Map activity lasts four hours or until changed. These controls do not establish that changing a pose or activity will remove a halo. The “Now” label
Snapchat’s Actionmoji help page says “Now” beside a battery percentage means the Snap Map location information is current. The page does not connect that label to a halo.

Check Map privacy if your concern is who can see you
A halo is not documented as a warning that someone is sharing live location, is online, or is at a particular place. Snap says Map visibility depends on location-sharing choices and device location permission; users can change their sharing settings or turn on Ghost Mode. Review those controls if you want to change who can see your location. Snap’s privacy features information

How to describe the halo if you need help identifying it
Because Snapchat has not published a meaning for the halo in the cited help pages, its appearance alone cannot reliably identify what it signifies. If you ask Snapchat Support or report the issue, describe the details rather than assuming what it means:
- Whether the mark is above your Bitmoji or a friend’s.
- Whether it appears on the avatar itself, beside a name, or in a Chat header.
- Whether it remains after closing and reopening Snapchat, or after updating the app.
Those details may help someone investigate the display, but they are not proven diagnostic tests. Snap Map’s original announcement, published June 21, 2017, discussed Actionmoji and location sharing at launch; it is historical context, not a current explanation of the halo.
