The Westinghouse WHI643BC is a 60cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a listed 6.5kW connected load. Its published specifications make it possible to assess its layout, features and installation fit, but the available review listing does not provide enough test results for a hands-on performance verdict. Check the cutout, electrical requirements and local warranty terms before buying.
What the WHI643BC is—and what this review can establish
Westinghouse describes the WHI643BC as a black ceramic-glass induction cooktop. The New Zealand product page and Australian fact sheet list four cooking zones, a 6.5kW connected load and a hardwired electrical connection. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of cooking speed or efficiency. Westinghouse product page · Westinghouse Australia fact sheet

CHOICE has a product listing for the model, but the accessible listing does not disclose substantive WHI643BC test findings or an overall test score. It names appliance tester Fiona Mair, but that alone is not evidence of a particular result. For that reason, this is a specification-based assessment rather than a tested review. Will it fit your benchtop?
Westinghouse lists the cooktop at 590mm wide, 520mm deep and 46mm high. The specified benchtop cutout is 560mm wide by 490mm deep.
#1 Best Overall
- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
| Measurement | Listed specification |
|---|---|
| Overall width × depth × height | 590 × 520 × 46mm |
| Benchtop cutout width × depth | 560 × 490mm |
Use these figures for an initial fit check, not as a complete installation plan. Westinghouse says its dimension guide does not replace the full installation instructions. Check the product manual and have a qualified installer confirm the benchtop, clearances and site requirements. Because the appliance is listed as hardwired with a 6.5kW connected load, confirm that the electrical connection and supply at your home are suitable before purchase.
How the four cooking zones are arranged
The manufacturer lists four induction zones with different diameters and power ratings. The left-front zone is the largest and is the only one for which a boost rating is specified.

|---|---|---|
| Left front | 210mm | 2,300W; 3,200W with boost |
| Left rear | 140mm | 1,400W |
| Right front | 140mm | 1,400W |
| Right rear | 180mm | 1,800W |
CHOICE labels the left-rear and right-front positions as simmer zones, the right-rear as medium and the left-front as large. That description helps explain the layout, but cookware compatibility and results depend on the pan and cooking task; the published specifications do not establish measured heat-up or simmering performance.

Westinghouse says Hob2Hood can switch on a compatible rangehood as cooking starts and adjust its fan speed and airflow. The claim applies to compatible hoods, not every rangehood. If this feature matters to you, verify the exact hood model and installation requirements with the manufacturer before choosing the cooktop.

- 【CHECK YOUR PAN FIRST — MAGNET TEST + FLAT BASE 4 –10 IN】Works only with magnetic, flat-bottom cookware: cast iron, magnetic 430 stainless steel, or enameled iron. Fridge-magnet test on the flat bottom: clings = works; slides = no heat. Not for aluminum, copper, glass, ceramic, or non-magnetic 304 stainless steel. Measure the flat magnetic base, not the rim: 4 –10 in (10–26 cm). Round-bottom/warped pans or small magnetic dots won’t work. “E0” = pan mismatch, not a defect.

Warranty, price and what to verify locally
The product page lists a two-year domestic warranty. Westinghouse Australia’s fact sheet qualifies the warranty for appliances purchased and used in Australia or New Zealand in normal domestic applications, subject to the warranty-card conditions. It also notes that the stated warranty does not exclude non-excludable statutory warranties. These terms should not be assumed to apply elsewhere; check the warranty documentation for your country and purchase.

Who should consider the WHI643BC?
It may suit someone looking for a 60cm induction cooktop whose kitchen can accommodate the listed cutout and electrical load, and who values features such as a pause function, keep-warm setting or the option to use Hob2Hood with a verified compatible rangehood. The available specifications do not support a claim that it outperforms competing cooktops. When comparing alternatives, check overall and cutout dimensions, electrical requirements, zone sizes and power, control placement, hood compatibility, warranty terms for your location and current price.
