EnConvert documents a native sitemap mode that discovers URLs and captures them as a batch. Urlbox documents a two-step approach: extract URLs from a sitemap, then send them to its API or CaptureDeck. Neither workflow guarantees a successful screenshot of every page: a sitemap can be incomplete, and fetch or rendering failures can interrupt processing.
How sitemap-to-screenshot capture works
A sitemap is a URL-discovery source, not a screenshot job by itself. A batch workflow must find the sitemap, parse its page URLs, render those URLs, and deliver the resulting files. Before choosing a service, check whether it handles discovery natively, follows sitemap indexes, supports the batch size you need, and returns results synchronously or as an asynchronous job.

- Native sitemap mode: the API fetches and parses the sitemap as part of the capture request.
- Two-step workflow: you extract the sitemap URLs first, then submit those URLs for capture using an API script or a no-code tool.
A sitemap may omit pages, and a listed URL may fail to load. Treat the sitemap as the site’s declared URL set, not proof that every page on the site will be captured.

Option 1: EnConvert’s native sitemap mode
EnConvert documents POST /v1/convert/website-to-screenshot with crawl_mode: "sitemap". Its documented sitemap mode fetches {base_url}/sitemap.xml; when that file is a sitemap index, it recursively fetches child sitemaps and extracts <loc> entries from URL sets. The capture output is full-page PNG images packaged in a ZIP.

The workflow is asynchronous: the initial response is HTTP 202 with a batch ID. You then poll the batch-status endpoint or use a configured webhook or email notification to learn when the archive is ready. The API requires a private key and paid-plan access. Sitemap mode is plan-gated, and batch limits depend on plan; check EnConvert’s current documentation for the applicable request fields, plan limits, and status endpoint before implementation.
Automatic crawl mode
EnConvert also documents crawl_mode: "auto", which selects the highest crawl mode allowed by the account’s plan. If the job specifically needs sitemap discovery, explicitly choosing "sitemap" makes that intent clear; verify that the plan permits it.
Failure cases to account for
EnConvert lists a missing sitemap, a non-200 sitemap response, invalid XML, a timeout, or an empty URL set as possible errors. Its documentation states a 30-second sitemap-fetch timeout. That is a vendor-specific limit, not a general sitemap standard. A batch may also be constrained by the plan’s maximum pages per crawl.

Option 2: Extract URLs, then submit a batch
Urlbox says its API does not natively capture an entire website from a sitemap in one request. Its documented alternative is to extract the sitemap URLs and submit them through CaptureDeck or custom automation that calls the Urlbox API. This separates discovery from rendering and lets you inspect or filter the URL list before spending capture capacity.
Find the sitemap
Common paths include /sitemap.xml, /sitemap_index.xml, and /sitemaps.xml. A site may instead declare its sitemap in robots.txt, or may not publish a sitemap at all. If the root sitemap is an index, parse its child sitemap locations before collecting page URLs.
Prepare and submit the URL list
- Fetch the sitemap or sitemap index and check that the response succeeds.
- Parse each child sitemap if the root is an index, then collect the page locations.
- Validate, deduplicate, and optionally filter the URLs before capture.
- Submit the resulting URLs through the chosen batch tool or your own API automation, following that service’s current request format and limits.
- Track completion and failed URLs separately so that one unreachable page does not get mistaken for a complete site archive.
Urlbox advises spacing requests to avoid rate limiting and keeping concurrency considerate toward the target site. Its guide identifies CaptureDeck as a no-code option; the exact limits and current behavior should be confirmed in the relevant service documentation.

How to choose a workflow
| Question | EnConvert | Urlbox workflow |
|---|---|---|
| Who discovers sitemap URLs? | Native sitemap mode; documented support for recursively fetching child sitemaps. | You extract the URL list, then submit it through CaptureDeck or custom automation. |
| How are results delivered? | Asynchronous batch; initial HTTP 202 includes a batch ID, with status polling or configured webhook/email notification. | Depends on the capture workflow and service configuration; the cited guide describes the extraction-plus-submission approach. |
| What limits are established? | Sitemap mode requires paid-plan access; sitemap mode and page limits depend on plan. The documentation states a 30-second sitemap-fetch timeout. | The cited guide recommends spacing requests and considerate concurrency but does not establish a universal batch limit. |
| What output is established? | Full-page PNG images packaged in a ZIP. | The guide does not establish one universal output or packaging format for the suggested workflows. |
These are documented workflow differences, not an independent performance or price ranking. Confirm current plan access, batch limits, authentication support, output format, and job-retention details directly with the provider before relying on a large capture run.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its documented one-request endpoint captures one URL; for sitemap work, extract the URLs first and use its bulk-capture capability, which supports up to 100 URLs per call. The exact bulk request schema is not specified here, so consult the ScreenshotNeo API documentation rather than assuming the single-URL request format applies to bulk requests.
For a single page, the one-call example is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Reliability, pacing, and cost checks
- Audit discovery: save the extracted URL list and count it before submission. A successful batch only demonstrates processing of the discovered set, not completeness of the site.
- Handle partial failure: record per-URL outcomes and retry only failed pages where the provider supports it. Sitemap fetch errors and page-render errors are distinct failure points.
- Control load: for custom automation, use bounded concurrency and spacing, especially for large lists. Avoid sending a burst that could trigger rate limits or impose unnecessary load on the destination site.
- Estimate spend before capture: compare the number of discovered URLs with the plan’s batch and billing rules. EnConvert’s sitemap access and page limits depend on plan; do not assume every sitemap URL will fit in one job.
- Preserve job state: for asynchronous work, retain the batch ID and monitor the documented status mechanism or callback. Do not treat an HTTP 202 acceptance response as proof that the archive is ready.
Troubleshooting
The sitemap request fails
Check that the sitemap URL is correct and publicly reachable, that it returns a successful response, and that its body is valid XML. If the site declares a different location in robots.txt, use that path. EnConvert documents errors for missing or non-200 sitemap responses, invalid XML, and sitemap-fetch timeouts.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe sitemap index produces no page URLs
Confirm that the root file is an index and that child sitemap locations are accessible. An index contains sitemap references rather than the page locations themselves; the child files must be fetched and parsed. EnConvert documents recursive child-sitemap fetching in sitemap mode. In a manual workflow, make sure your extraction step follows those child references.
The job is accepted but no images are available yet
An HTTP 202 response from EnConvert means the asynchronous batch was accepted, not that its ZIP is complete. Use the returned batch ID with the documented status mechanism or wait for the configured notification.
Best Value
Some pages are missing from the results
Compare the submitted URL list with the completed and failed outcomes. Check for empty or incomplete sitemap content, plan page caps, URL-level load failures, and timeouts. A sitemap-based capture cannot include pages that were never listed unless you add another discovery method.
Requests are rate-limited
Reduce concurrency and add spacing between requests. Urlbox specifically advises this for large URL lists. Resume from failed URLs instead of blindly replaying the entire batch when the service supports targeted retries.
