Before making a website public, test that visitors can reach the pages and complete the tasks the site is meant to support. Check the production-facing version in a browser, confirm the pages intended for search are accessible and indexable, verify HTTPS and performance, and test important journeys such as forms, downloads, and checkout. For a hosting change, test a copy on the new infrastructure before switching traffic.
This checklist helps you find launch blockers; it cannot guarantee that Google will index a page or that every visitor’s device will behave identically.
1. Confirm the public pages are reachable
List the pages that should be available at launch and visit them as a logged-out user. Check the homepage, key landing pages, product or service pages, contact information, and any pages linked from navigation or campaign materials. A page that is intentionally private can remain behind a login; a page meant for public visitors should not require one.
- Follow internal links and confirm they lead to the intended page rather than a draft, staging address, or error page.
- Check that pages load on the public domain, not only in an editor preview or while signed in to the content system.
- Confirm that important images, downloads, and other page content load as expected.
Google says a page must be accessible to Googlebot to be eligible for Search. Its technical requirements also include a successful HTTP 200 response and indexable content. Passing those checks makes a page eligible; it does not guarantee crawling, indexing, or display. Google’s technical requirements for Search explain the distinction.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Review crawl and indexing controls
Before launch, compare robots.txt and page-level indexing controls with your intended visibility. A staging setup may have been deliberately blocked from crawlers; make sure that restriction does not accidentally carry over to public pages. Conversely, preserve restrictions on pages that should not be discoverable.
- Inspect robots.txt and any page-level directives that affect crawling or indexing.
- Use Google Search Console’s URL Inspection tool to test important URLs and investigate whether Google can access them.
- After the site is available, use the Page Indexing and Crawl Stats reports to look for site-level access and indexing issues.
Google identifies these tools as ways to inspect pages and monitor crawl and indexing information. They are diagnostic aids, not an indexing guarantee. See Google’s technical requirements.
3. Test the experience visitors will actually get
Open the live site in a browser and work through the journeys that matter: finding a service, contacting the business, downloading a file, or purchasing a product. A checklist maintained by the community suggests useful prompts such as testing forms, checking browser and mobile compatibility, reviewing performance, and verifying that backups can be restored. Treat those as practical checks for your own site, not as an official launch standard. Community launch-checklist examples can help you build a site-specific list.

Forms and key actions
- Submit each important form with valid information and confirm that the expected confirmation appears.
- Check that notifications or follow-up steps reach the appropriate destination where relevant.
- Test buttons, navigation, downloads, and other primary actions from the visitor’s perspective.
Browsers and mobile layouts
Check the pages and actions people rely on in the browsers and screen sizes important to your audience. Look for clipped content, hard-to-use controls, broken menus, and images that fail to fit. This is a practical compatibility check, not proof that every device has been tested.

Include accessibility, privacy or consent, and security in your project’s launch review. The right checks depend on the site and its context; this checklist does not establish legal requirements, a complete audit method, or a security guarantee.
4. Verify HTTPS and page performance
Confirm that the public site uses HTTPS and that visitors reach the intended secure version. Google recommends HTTPS rather than HTTP to improve site and user security; see Google’s HTTPS guidance.

Check performance at two levels: use the Core Web Vitals report for site-wide information and PageSpeed Insights to examine individual pages. Google describes these tools in its Core Web Vitals guidance. A score is useful diagnostic information, not a promise of a particular search ranking.
5. If you are changing hosting, test before cutover
A hosting move introduces a separate risk: the copy that worked on the old infrastructure may not behave the same way on the new one. Google’s site-move guidance recommends copying the site to the new infrastructure, creating a testing environment, and reviewing pages, images, forms, and downloads in a browser before the move. See Google’s site-move guidance.

6. Choose an ecommerce launch sequence
There is no single launch sequence that suits every store. Google describes four approaches; the choice affects when the full catalog is public, when Google can crawl it, and how closely publication aligns with a campaign. Review Google’s ecommerce launch guidance and choose based on catalog readiness and marketing needs.
| Approach | When the catalog is public | Search visibility and campaign timing |
|---|---|---|
| Reveal the whole site at once | The full site becomes available at launch. | Google can access content once it is public; the release can be synchronized with a planned reveal. |
| Launch the homepage first | The homepage is public before the rest of the site. | Google can encounter the homepage earlier, while the full catalog waits for its later release. |
| Launch the full site with products marked unavailable | The site and product pages are public, but products are presented as unavailable. | Google can access the pages earlier than in a password-protected reveal; customer expectations must match availability. |
| Soft-launch the full site | The full site is public before a larger promotional announcement. | Content can be accessible to Google and visitors before the main campaign reveal. |
A password-protected grand reveal can delay search visibility compared with making content publicly accessible earlier. Select the sequence deliberately rather than assuming that one approach is universally best.
7. Capture production pages for a visual review
A screenshot can make it easier to review a page’s layout or share a visual issue with a teammate. For an API-based capture, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; individual cleanup steps can be turned off. Its response identifies page verdict and billing status, and bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. Learn more at ScreenshotNeo.

Send one GET request with the page URL to return a screenshot. For full options, see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
