Its creator, David Manuel Tchatchouang Nguena, says he started building the visual HTML, CSS, and JavaScript editor in January 2025 to make that experimentation feel more immediate without giving up access to the underlying code.
Why build another frontend editor?
In his DEV Community article, Nguena describes a workflow split between VS Code and a browser: make a change, refresh the page, inspect the visual result, and go back to adjust the CSS. That loop can interrupt the act of trying ideas, especially when the goal is to explore how a page behaves rather than simply type a known implementation.

He says he began building WebMold in January 2025 to address that friction. The idea is to let someone make visual changes and see them applied live, while still retaining control of the code behind the page. It is a stated design goal, not an independently measured claim that WebMold makes development faster.

Nguena describes WebMold as a visual editor for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It is intended for working with DOM elements, modifying code and styles, and seeing the effects without constantly refreshing the browser. The creator’s summary is: “WebMold is a visual HTML/CSS/JavaScript editor that lets you work with the DOM, modify your code and styles, and see the changes applied live — without constantly refreshing the page.”

The premise is a middle ground between a purely visual page builder and a conventional code editor: experiment with what is on the page, but keep the actual markup, styles, and behavior in view and within reach. How deeply that approach works across different project types is not established by the launch material.
What the first version covers—and what it does not
The creator describes v1.0.0 as an MVP focused on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Framework-based workflows are an ambition for future work, not a feature established for the current version. If your project depends on a framework, build pipeline, or other specialized setup, check that workflow’s compatibility before treating WebMold as a replacement for your existing tools.
Nguena also says project import and export are included, with the aim of keeping projects portable and under the developer’s control. The available launch information does not specify the import formats, export behavior, or how either works on complex projects.

Developers who learn by adjusting a page
WebMold’s described workflow may appeal to someone who wants to select or manipulate DOM elements, change CSS properties, and observe the result as they experiment. It is particularly relevant when the task is exploratory—trying a layout or style and learning from the outcome—rather than making a narrowly defined edit in an established codebase.

Beginners learning how the pieces connect
Nguena says beginners could use the editor to interact with DOM nodes, CSS properties, and JavaScript behavior and see changes immediately. He also says he teaches web development on Preply and is interested in making learning more interactive. That makes WebMold’s educational motivation clear, but it does not establish learning outcomes or replace instruction and practice.

The launch article says v1.0.0 is live on Vercel, but that statement does not verify present-day availability. It also does not establish pricing, licensing, privacy terms, browser support, or compatibility with particular frameworks and project setups. Those details should be confirmed directly before using WebMold for a production project or sensitive code.

For a practical evaluation, try a small project and check whether the editor preserves the code control you need, whether visual edits give you useful live feedback, whether import and export fit your workflow, and whether your project’s framework or tooling is supported. These are the key questions raised by WebMold’s stated goals; the launch material does not provide comparative tests against other editors.
