Then test another page and check the extension and browser setup. A page-specific failure can come from a complex layout or interactive content; it does not automatically mean the clipper is broken everywhere.
1. Find out whether the problem affects one page or every page
Try clipping a different, straightforward page. If that works, the affected site may use a layout, interactive elements, or multimedia that the clipper does not parse correctly. If several unrelated pages are incomplete, check the extension and browser setup before blaming a particular website. Evernote identifies complex designs, interactive content, and multimedia as possible causes of clipping problems in its troubleshooting guidance, updated March 14, 2025.

2. Choose a capture mode that fits what you need
A clipped article and a screenshot are different kinds of records. If the page parser cannot reproduce a complicated page, a screenshot may preserve its appearance better, but it will not give you the same editable article text.

Evernote recommends trying Article, Simplified Article, or Full Page, selecting text manually, or using screenshot capture. 3. Work through browser and extension checks
- Update the browser. Use a current version before troubleshooting the clipper further.
- Confirm the extension is enabled. Open the browser’s extension settings and make sure the clipper is active.
- Sign in and approve permissions. If setup requests an account sign-in or application permissions, complete those steps. Microsoft’s setup instructions include signing in and granting requested permissions.
- Test relevant privacy settings. For Evernote, temporarily disable an ad blocker to test, and check whether third-party cookies are blocked. Restore your preferred settings after the test.
- Clear the browser cache, then sign out and back in. Evernote includes both steps in its troubleshooting guidance.
- Retry the page and compare with another site. Note the URL, selected capture mode, and whether the problem happens on other pages; that makes a vendor report more useful.
4. Follow the right steps for your clipper
Evernote Web Clipper
Try Article, Simplified Article, and Full Page; if you only need a passage, select it before opening the clipper. If the result remains incomplete, test the browser, extension, cookie, and ad-blocker checks above. Evernote’s official troubleshooting article was updated March 14, 2025; its settings documentation was updated July 7, 2025.
Notion Web Clipper
Notion documents its desktop clipper for Chrome and Safari; on mobile, clipping uses the native share sheet. Not every website can be parsed the same way. If one page is still missing content, Notion asks users to share its URL so the engineering team can review it. See Notion’s Web Clipper help page.

OneNote Web Clipper
Choose Article when you want editable text and images. Choose Full Page or Region when a screenshot is more useful than editable content. If you are setting up the extension, sign in and grant the requested permissions as prompted. Microsoft’s capture guidance is at OneNote Web Clipper.
5. Report a failure that is limited to one site
If other pages clip correctly but one particular URL repeatedly loses content, send that URL to the clipper provider. Include the browser, clipper, capture mode, and a brief description of what is missing. Notion explicitly invites users to share a page URL when its clipper omits content; the same information can help other providers investigate a site-specific issue.
