What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Start by checking Activision’s Online Services page for Warzone, then check your console or PC platform’s network status. The message does not identify one specific cause: an Activision outage, a platform network problem, account sign-in, or a local connection issue can all prevent access.
1. Check Warzone and platform service status

Open Activision Online Services, select Call of Duty: Warzone, and review the service indicator and any alerts.

Check the network status for the platform you use. Activision’s status page lists paths for PlayStation Network, Xbox, Battle.net, Steam, Nintendo, and Epic Games.

Status is live, so check it when the error occurs rather than assuming a service is available based on an earlier visit. Activision notes that connection problems may continue while affected services are being restored. If either service shows an outage or alert, wait for it to clear before changing router settings.

2. Confirm your account can sign in
Make sure you are signed in to your console or PC platform account. If you cannot sign in, use that platform’s official internet connection guidance; Activision’s Warzone connection guide links to PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net, and Steam help. If sign-in works but Warzone still cannot connect, check the platform’s network alerts or maintenance notices before troubleshooting the router.
3. Try low-risk checks on your home network

Restart your router, then try connecting to the game again.

Check your internet connection and test with wired Ethernet if practical. Activision says Wi-Fi reliability and available bandwidth can vary, and strongly recommends a wired Ethernet connection for online gameplay.

- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
A wired test can help distinguish a Wi-Fi reliability problem from other connection causes. It will not restore an Activision or platform outage or fix an account sign-in issue.
4. Change router settings only after the basic checks
Activision’s connection guide presents router configuration as a sequence of tests. Check the game after each change, and use current instructions for your router and platform. Do not enable several conflicting options at once.

If port forwarding is enabled, disable it and try UPnP.

If UPnP does not help, turn it off and try port forwarding with a static IP assigned to the console.

For a console only, test DMZ using that static IP as a final step. Remove the console’s static IP from DMZ after testing.
DMZ is not a general-purpose fix to leave enabled. Follow your router’s instructions, and avoid exposing a device this way beyond the test.

If service status is normal, you can sign in, and the connection and router checks do not resolve the error, contact your internet service provider. On a school, workplace, or other managed shared network, ask its network administrator to check whether the network permits the game’s online connection.
