To survive longer in Warhammer Survivors, use the opening of each run to build power: learn how your character’s starting weapon behaves, collect experience, and choose weapons and power-ups that work together. There is no verified best character, weapon, or evolution recipe yet. The game is scheduled to launch on 10 November 2026, so these tips explain the announced mechanics rather than claim tested launch-version strategies.
How a run works
Warhammer Survivors is a standalone survivors-style roguelite from Auroch Digital, developed in partnership with Warhammer and poncle. It spans Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The core loop is to defeat enemies, gain levels, add weapons and power-ups, and withstand hordes that grow more intense as a run progresses. Warhammer Community describes the arc as moving from “the careful and strategic early moments” to “the frenetic, eye-searing madness of the late game.” Warhammer Community’s overview and the Steam store description establish the broad loop, but do not give exact timings or controls.

Beginner tips for lasting longer
Use the early phase to develop your build
When the horde is less intense, focus on gaining experience and understand what your current weapon does. The official description says defeating enemies helps you level up and evolve weapons; using the calmer opening to develop your options is a sensible reading of that loop, not a tested optimal tactic.

Learn your character before choosing additions
Characters have distinct starting weapons and stats, so the same added weapon may complement different characters in different ways. Auroch Digital has also said that some weapons aim automatically while others do not. Pay attention to how your starting kit attacks and targets before assuming every weapon behaves alike.

Experiment with combinations
The Steam description presents mixing weapons and power-ups, then evolving weapons into new forms, as a central feature. Try combinations as they become available and note what changes. The official pages do not provide a complete, confirmed evolution-recipe list, so treat specific recipes from unofficial advice as version-dependent until verified in the released game.
Consider unlocks part of progress
Runs can lead to unlockable characters, weapons, abilities, relics, and secrets. A run that ends in defeat can still be useful if it teaches you how a character or combination works or moves you toward an unlock. The game is designed around experimentation across runs, not only a single successful attempt.

Keep stage and enemy differences in mind
Stages feature distinct enemy factions and secrets, and the game draws on both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. A setup that feels effective in one stage may not be as useful in another. When comparing advice, check which character, stage, enemy faction, and game version it describes.

No authoritative source currently ranks characters or provides controlled comparisons of survival time. The Steam page says each character has unique starting stats and weapons; that supports trying the available characters, not declaring one the best for beginners. The official launch announcement advertises more than 40 playable characters and more than 70 weapons, publisher-announced totals rather than independently verified final counts or a promise that all options appear in the demo. The new demo announced on 6 October 2026 includes the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya, while the Steam page also names Malum Caedo and Neave Blacktalon among the champions.

One official example illustrates why character-specific weapon behavior matters: Lyssa Revenya’s Rope and Grapnel fires hooks from random screen edges and evolves into the Ghost of Rhea. That example is not a general beginner build or evidence of a universally strong weapon. See the PlayStation Blog character announcement for that reveal.

As of 7 October 2026, the game has not yet launched; the announced release date is 10 November 2026. Auroch Digital has described balance work involving characters, weapons, enemies, and enemy waves, so pre-release builds and advice may not match the launch version. The developer’s Steam announcements discuss these design and balance considerations, including intentionally different aiming behavior among weapons.

The developer FAQ says progress in the curated demo it covered would not carry over to the full game, and notes that demo content can differ from launch. A newer demo was announced on 6 October, so that older policy should not automatically be assumed to apply to the newer demo without checking its current terms. The Auroch Digital FAQ describes the earlier demo policy.

A simple way to learn from each run
- Start with one character. Notice its starting weapon and stats rather than judging it by a universal tier list.
- Observe weapon behavior. Check whether attacks aim automatically and how they behave against enemies on your current stage.
- Build and compare combinations. Add weapons and power-ups, then note which choices appear to work together and whether an evolution occurs.
- Record the context. If you use outside advice, match its character, stage, enemy faction, and version to your own run.
- Use unlocks to widen your options. Treat new characters and equipment as opportunities to test a different starting approach.
