There is no verified universal “best” WARDOGS preset: the right balance depends on your PC, resolution, and current game build. Start with the game’s published hardware targets, measure a repeatable gameplay baseline, then change one setting or related group at a time. Keep a change only if it improves frame delivery without making the image harder to read.
Check your PC against WARDOGS’ published targets
Valve’s WARDOGS Steam listing gives target configurations, not guaranteed performance on every system. Use them to understand whether your hardware is below, near, or above the listed tier before tuning.

| Published target | Processor and memory | Graphics |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum: 1080p Low at 60 FPS using upscaling | Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500; 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 590 |
| Recommended: 1440p Medium at 70+ FPS native, or 4K Medium at 60+ FPS using upscaling | Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X; 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT |
These figures are the targets stated on the Steam listing, checked in 2026; they are not independent benchmark results. If your GPU is below the listed tier, lowering demanding options or using an available upscaling mode may be worth testing, but the listing does not establish a specific FPS gain from any setting.

- The next-generation optical HERO sensor delivers incredible performance and up to 10x the power efficiency over previous generations, with 400 IPS precision and up to 12,000 DPI sensitivity
- Ultra-fast LIGHTSPEED wireless technology gives you a lag-free gaming experience, delivering incredible responsiveness and reliability with 1 ms report rate for competition-level performance
- G305 wireless mouse boasts an incredible 250 hours of continuous gameplay on just 1 AA battery; switch to Endurance mode via Logitech G HUB software and extend battery life up to 9 months
- Wireless does not have to mean heavy, G305 lightweight mouse provides high maneuverability coming in at only 3.4 oz thanks to efficient lightweight mechanical design and ultra-efficient battery usage
- The durable, compact design with built-in nano receiver storage makes G305 not just a great portable desktop mouse, but also a great laptop travel companion, use with a gaming laptop and play anywhere
- Record your resolution, CPU and GPU, game build, and current rendering or upscaling mode.
- Choose a representative scene or type of action and use it for each comparison. Avoid comparing a quiet menu or empty area with a busy fight.
- Note how smooth the game feels and whether frame delivery is consistent, as well as whether important details remain easy to see.
- Change one option, or a closely related group, then revisit the same conditions. Keep the change only if it helps your goal and the image remains usable.
Updates may change options or their behavior, so confirm that the setting is available in your current build. A third-party guide can suggest a starting point, but its recommendation is not proof of a universal performance result.
Choose a mode for your hardware, not someone else’s preset
A current guide describes Potato Mode and Overkill Mode as options aimed at different hardware classes, not as universal competitive settings or performance guarantees. Check their availability and behavior in your installed build before relying on them. If you try either, compare it against your baseline for both frame consistency and visibility rather than assuming the name predicts the result.

- Pentakill, 5 DPI Levels - Geared with 5 redefinable DPI levels (default as: 500/1000/2000/3000/4000), easy to switch between different game needs. Dedicated demand of DPI options between 500-8000 is also available to be processed by software.
- Any Button is Reassignable - 11 programmable buttons are all editable with customizable tactical keybinds in whatever game or work you are engaging. 1 rapid fire + 2 side macro buttons offer you a better gaming and working experience.
- Comfort Grip with Details - The skin-friendly frosted coating is the main comfort grip of the mouse surface, which offers you the most enjoyable fingerprint-free tactility. The left side equipped with rubber texture strengthened the friction and made the mouse easier to control.
- 5 Decent Backlit Modes - Turn the backlit on and make some kills in your gaming battlefield. The hyped dynamic RGB backlit vibe will never let you down when decorating your gaming space, it would be better with other Redragon accessories with lights on.
- Fatigue Killer with Ergonomic Design - Solid frame with a streamlined and general claw-grip design offers a satisfying and comfortable gaming experience with less fatigue even though after hours of use.
What to do when performance is still short of your goal
- If your GPU is below the published minimum tier: test lower settings and any available upscaling option, one change at a time. The published minimum target uses 1080p Low with upscaling, but does not promise that every below-tier PC will reach 60 FPS.
- If your hardware is near a published tier: use its resolution and rendering mode as context, then tune against your own repeatable scene. The listed recommended configurations do not guarantee the same results in every situation.
- If a tweak comes from a forum: treat it as an unverified test lead, not a proven optimization. Community performance reports vary by PC and conditions, and no specific FPS increase is established by them.
- If you are considering an upgrade: the requirements can help identify whether your graphics card is below the listed tier, but they do not establish that buying a particular card is necessary. First determine whether your measured shortfall persists after controlled settings comparisons.
No independent controlled benchmark figures or universal per-setting FPS gains are established here. The most defensible choice is the configuration that performs better on your PC in comparable play conditions while preserving the visual information you need.
