Breezy Weather is a free, open-source Android weather app that gives you a choice of weather-data providers while using a visual style familiar to Pixel Weather users. It is a useful Google Weather alternative if provider choice and customization matter to you—but there is no evidence here that its forecasts are more accurate. Results depend on the provider and where you live.
What Breezy Weather changes—and what it doesn’t
Breezy Weather is an app, not a weather-data network. It presents forecasts and related information from providers you can select, rather than relying on one source for every user. The project says it supports more than 50 weather sources, though which ones you can choose depends on the app flavor and where you install it.

The project lists hourly and daily forecasts for up to 16 days. That is a stated app capability, not a promise that every provider supplies data for the full period. It also describes current conditions, nowcasting, air quality, pollen, alerts, visualizations, widgets, live wallpaper, and custom icon packs. These features make Breezy Weather more than a visual copy of Google’s weather screen; its key distinction is the ability to select among available providers.

Which version you install affects provider choice
Breezy Weather has standard and free-network flavors. The project describes the free-network flavor as focusing on sources that are libre and self-hostable. The standard flavor includes additional sources that do not meet those criteria. F-Droid’s listing corresponds to a free-network build and names Open-Meteo among its sources; do not assume that every provider listed by the project is included in that version.
The project’s installation guide describes the available installation routes, including GitHub releases and F-Droid-related repositories. It says the standard flavor and non-free sources are not intended for F-Droid’s default repository, so check the guide for the current route before installing. Release and repository details can change.

The project says its releases are generated by GitHub Actions and that release files include SHA-256 checksums. If you install an APK directly, follow the project’s current instructions and verify the file’s checksum against the one published for that release.
Privacy depends on both the app and its provider
The project says current location is optional and is not added by default, and that the app has no trackers or automatic crash reporters. F-Droid also lists location permission as optional. These are project disclosures, not findings from an independent audit of app behavior.

Choosing a provider also matters: Breezy Weather links to provider privacy policies, and each service may have its own data practices. Review the policy for the source you select, especially if you enable location-based forecasts. Open source describes the app’s licensing and code availability; it does not mean that every third-party weather provider or its service is open source.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide whether its forecasts work for you
The available sources do not establish that Breezy Weather is more accurate than Google Weather. A personal report of disappointing forecasts from Google and another provider during a coastal vacation is an anecdote, not a controlled comparison. Weather performance can differ by location, provider, forecast horizon, and the kind of conditions you care about.

Try the providers available in your chosen flavor and judge them against conditions where you live. Compare forecasts over time rather than drawing a conclusion from one rainy day. Useful factors include:
