Apple does not document a single accessibility feature called “Voice Zoom.” To use spoken commands alongside screen magnification, turn on Voice Control and Zoom separately. Voice Control lets you interact with onscreen items by speaking; Zoom enlarges the display. These are Apple accessibility features, not the Zoom videoconferencing app.
What “Voice Zoom” means on an iPhone or Mac
Voice Control and screen Zoom do different jobs. Apple describes Voice Control as a way to speak commands to interact with what is on screen, including gestures and button presses, and to dictate or edit text. Screen Zoom enlarges the display, either across the screen or in a movable window on iPhone.

Using both can help you speak to onscreen controls while viewing enlarged content. However, the documented Zoom magnification gestures are touch gestures; the Apple guides cited here do not establish a dedicated spoken “zoom in” command that works in every app or situation. Check the Voice Control command list on your device rather than assuming every touch action has a voice equivalent.

- Open Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control.
- Tap Set Up Voice Control and follow the onscreen instructions.
- For the initial setup, connect to Wi-Fi so iPhone can download a one-time file. Apple says Voice Control can work without an internet connection after that download.
To see commands available for the current app or activity, say “Show commands.” You can also say “Show names” or “Show numbers” to label onscreen items, then speak a displayed name or number. Apple says command availability can vary with the app and what you are doing. Voice Control is not available in all languages.

Use Voice Control and Zoom together
Once both features are enabled, Voice Control can provide spoken interaction while Zoom magnifies the display. Use Voice Control’s on-screen names or numbers when you need to target a visible item, and consult “Show commands” for the commands available in the current context. Do not assume a magnification gesture has a universal spoken counterpart; if a particular action is not listed, use the Zoom touch controls documented for iPhone.

How the Mac setup differs
On Mac, open System Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control to enable and configure spoken interaction. Say “Show commands” to review commands; “Show names” and “Show numbers” can label onscreen items. Mac screen magnification has separate settings at System Settings > Accessibility > Zoom.
Mac settings and controls are not interchangeable with iPhone instructions. In particular, do not apply the iPhone three-finger Zoom gestures to Mac. Apple’s guides explain Voice Control commands on Mac and accessibility features on Mac.
