The vivo X Fold6 brings a newer chipset, a 200MP main camera and a larger listed typical battery than the X Fold5, while keeping both screen diagonals nearly the same. It is not an across-the-board upgrade on paper: the cited X Fold5 cover screen has higher resolution, and the India price comparison involves different RAM configurations.

What changes in performance, screens and battery?
Newer chipset, but no direct speed result
The X Fold6 moves from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. The listed manufacturing processes are 4 nm and 3 nm respectively, but those figures and platform names alone do not establish how much faster one phone is in everyday use. No independent benchmark comparison is available here.

Nearly identical inner-screen size, different resolutions
The inner displays differ by just 0.01 inch in diagonal: 8.03 inches on X Fold5 and 8.02 inches on X Fold6. The X Fold6 listing gives the inner screen a higher resolution, 2504 × 2312 versus 2480 × 2200.
The cover screen comparison goes the other way. The X Fold5 has the slightly larger listed diagonal (6.53 versus 6.51 inches) and higher listed resolution (2748 × 1172 versus 2528 × 1120). A newer model does not mean every display specification is higher.
Larger typical battery; same maximum wired charging figure
vivo lists 6900mAh typical capacity for X Fold6 and 6000mAh for X Fold5. That is a capacity-specification difference, not a measured battery-life result: actual endurance depends on usage and other conditions. Both are listed for wired charging up to 80W; the X Fold6 India page specifies the original charger and cable, and vivo notes that actual charging power varies with use.

How do the cameras compare?
Both phones list three 50MP rear cameras on the X Fold5; the X Fold6 retains 50MP ultrawide and telephoto cameras but lists a 200MP main camera. That is a substantial change in stated main-camera resolution, not proof that the X Fold6 takes better photos. Megapixels alone do not determine image quality, and these specifications do not provide a controlled camera comparison.
Which phone is lighter?
The cited X Fold5 global page gives two weights: 217g for Gray and 226g for White. The cited X Fold6 India page lists 228g, excluding its main-display protective film. Because color, market and measurement basis differ, these figures are not a perfectly like-for-like weight test. Check the exact regional model and color before using weight as a deciding factor.

In India, the announced X Fold6 price is nominally ₹60,000 above the cited X Fold5 listing, but the X Fold5 has 16GB RAM while the X Fold6 configuration has 12GB. Current discounts, stock and offers can change the gap. Do not compare the China yuan prices directly with India rupee prices: taxes, configurations and availability differ by market.

Should you upgrade from X Fold5?
The official specifications point to a stronger case for upgrading if you specifically want the newer chipset platform, the higher-resolution main-camera specification or the larger typical battery capacity. They do not establish real-world speed, endurance or camera-quality gains.
If the cover display’s listed resolution, 16GB RAM in the cited India X Fold5 configuration, or the lower price matters more, the X Fold5 remains relevant on paper. For buyers choosing between the India listings, compare the exact SKU, current selling price and availability rather than treating the ₹60,000 nominal difference as a like-for-like upgrade cost. Software names and versions are region-specific listings; verify the exact SKU in your market. Network compatibility also depends on the model’s regional bands and carrier support; vivo cautions that functionality depends on carrier availability, infrastructure, regulation and software.
