The vivo X300 FE lists the larger battery, faster wired charging and newer software on vivo’s India specification pages. The vivo V40 Pro lists the bigger screen and, in its 12GB+512GB configuration, the lower price. The ₹29,000 gap between the two listed prices compares different storage sizes, so it is not a like-for-like price difference. The sections below separate what each phone’s official specifications say from what the price figures can and cannot tell you.
Specs at a glance
The table uses the values published on vivo’s India product specification pages. Where a figure is a typical or rated value, the table keeps that label.

Chipset and software
The V40 Pro is listed with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ and Funtouch OS 14 on Android 14. The X300 FE is listed with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and OriginOS 6 on Android 16. The names of the chips and software versions show what each phone ships with, but they do not show which one will perform better in daily use. The listed Android version also does not, by itself, say how long either phone will receive system updates. For that, check vivo’s own update statements for each model before you buy.
Cameras
Both phones list a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 50MP front camera with autofocus. The difference is in the rest of the rear system. The V40 Pro adds a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with 2x optical zoom. The X300 FE has a 50MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, plus an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

The price difference, explained
The vivo India Store lists the phones in several storage and memory configurations. The table below shows the listings this comparison used, with the date context: the prices were recorded in 2026 and change with discounts and stock.
| Model | Configuration | Listed price (vivo India Store) |
|---|---|---|
| vivo V40 Pro | 12GB+512GB | ₹60,999 |
| vivo X300 FE | 8GB+256GB | ₹84,999 |
| vivo X300 FE | 12GB+256GB | ₹89,999 |
The ₹29,000 difference is the gap between the V40 Pro 12GB+512GB and the X300 FE 12GB+256GB. Those two configurations differ in both memory and storage, and the V40 Pro has double the storage. A like-for-like price comparison would need the same RAM and storage on both phones, and this set of listings does not include one. The X300 FE 8GB+256GB, at ₹84,999, is also a different configuration from the V40 Pro 12GB+512GB, so the gap between those two is ₹24,000 and is not a direct comparison either.

What these figures do not show
Everything in this comparison comes from manufacturer specifications and vivo India store listings. The article does not include independent tests of camera quality, processing speed, display quality, battery endurance or charging time. A higher listed battery capacity or charger wattage does not guarantee a longer day or a faster charge in real use. Store prices can also change with discounts, stock and promotions, so check the listing pages linked above for the current figure.
