Cameras: where the V40 Pro is different
The most concrete hardware difference is the telephoto camera. The V40 Pro’s listed rear system includes a third 50 MP sensor dedicated to telephoto portraits and 2x optical zoom. The V50’s listed rear system stops at a 50 MP OIS main camera and a 50 MP autofocus ultra-wide camera. Both phones list a 50 MP autofocus front camera.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →If you regularly frame subjects at a distance or want optical rather than digital zoom at roughly 2x, that line item is the strongest reason to favour the V40 Pro. If you mostly shoot at the standard and wide focal lengths, the V50’s listed camera set covers that range without the extra lens. The pages do not include comparative photo samples or independent image-quality tests, so the spec sheet cannot tell you which phone produces better pictures.

Battery and charging
The V50 lists a 6000 mAh typical battery and 90 W FlashCharge. The V40 Pro lists 5500 mAh and 80 W. The V50’s capacity is 500 mAh larger and its rated wired charging power is 10 W higher.
These are rated figures. Capacity alone does not establish how long either phone lasts, because runtime depends on the display, chipset, software, and usage. Rated charging power also does not guarantee that a phone reaches full charge in a fixed time, since real charging speed changes with the cable, the charger, the battery’s temperature, and its state of charge. Neither vivo page publishes charging-time or battery-runtime results.

Chipset, display, and software
The V40 Pro’s Dimensity 9200+ is the higher-tier platform on the two listings. The V50’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is the platform vivo lists for that model. The spec sheets do not show measured speed, and this comparison does not claim a real-world performance gap.
The V40 Pro’s display is listed at 2800 × 1260, while the V50’s is 2392 × 1080. Both are AMOLED panels with up to 120 Hz refresh. The higher pixel count of the V40 Pro is the only display difference in the listings, and the two screens are close in size.

| Memory and storage | vivo V40 Pro listed price | vivo V50 listed price | Listed difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 GB / 256 GB | ₹54,999 | ₹42,999 | ₹12,000 lower for the V50 |
| 12 GB / 512 GB | ₹60,999 | ₹48,999 | ₹12,000 lower for the V50 |
| 8 GB / 128 GB | Not listed | Price not stated on the pages checked | Not calculable |
At 8 GB/256 GB the difference is ₹54,999 − ₹42,999 = ₹12,000. At 12 GB/512 GB it is ₹60,999 − ₹48,999 = ₹12,000. Compare only matching memory tiers, because the V50 also has a 128 GB option that the V40 Pro’s pages do not show.
The V40 Pro’s 8 GB/256 GB and 12 GB/512 GB configurations were displayed as unavailable when the pages were checked, so those prices describe what vivo listed rather than what you can buy today. Do not describe the gap as a discount or a saving unless a live retailer offer shows it.

What this comparison does and does not establish
This comparison is limited to India-market specifications and the listed prices on vivo India’s own store. It does not cover other countries, carrier variants, or regional bands, so verify those separately for any other market.
vivo India also publishes two claims that appear on its product pages and should be read as the company’s own statements. One page cites a 1,590,000 AnTuTu score; the page does not state the year of that test and it is a manufacturer-published figure, not an independent benchmark. Another vivo India claim states that the V40 and V40 Pro were the slimmest phones in the 5500 mAh battery category as of a July 15, 2024 cutoff. That is vivo’s own category claim, not an independent ranking.
No independent battery-life, camera-quality, charging-time, or benchmark test was found in the official pages used for this comparison, so none is reported here.
