Determine whether the service captures only URLs you submit or can discover pages from a list, sitemap, or whole domain. What the client actually receives
Decide whether the job ends with raw images or PDFs, or whether clients need a branded report, historical comparisons, or shareable evidence of a visual change. Run a representative pilot before moving client work
A short pilot can expose setup effort and page-specific failures that a feature list cannot. Use pages you are authorized to capture, and record the result for each test rather than treating one successful screenshot as proof of broad compatibility.
- Choose a representative sample: a long page, a JavaScript-heavy page, desktop and mobile layouts, and pages with consent overlays. Include authenticated pages only when the agency has authorization and the tool supports the required access method.
- For each candidate, configure the same URLs and intended viewport or device where possible. Note any setup that cannot be matched across tools.
- Inspect captures for missing assets, incomplete lazy-loaded content, inconsistent page state, and unwanted overlays.
