For sending a hosted event to YouTube Live, Vimeo is the clearer fit: Vimeo documents both direct YouTube integration and an RTMP workflow. ON24’s available documentation describes interactive webinars and ways to display YouTube content, but does not establish an equivalent outbound simulcast. For a B2B webinar program centered on registration, engagement and lead data, ON24 may be the better fit. The right choice depends on whether public YouTube distribution or managed webinar engagement matters most.

Can Vimeo send an event to YouTube Live?
Yes. Vimeo documents two ways to send a Vimeo event to YouTube Live: connect a YouTube account through direct integration or configure YouTube as an RTMP destination. The direct integration can send to as many as 10 integrated destinations at once; the RTMP route allows as many as 20 simultaneous destinations, according to Vimeo’s setup guidance. These are destination counts, not a promise of a particular audience size.
Direct YouTube integration
Connect the Vimeo account to the YouTube account you want to use. Vimeo says the event simulcasts automatically when the Vimeo event goes live. This route requires Vimeo Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events added. YouTube also requires the account to be verified for live streaming.

For RTMP, use the RTMP URL and stream key from YouTube’s Live Control Room as the destination details in Vimeo. If the YouTube stream is scheduled, the operator may need to select “Go live” manually in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Confirm the scheduled event’s state and destination before the audience arrives.
Vimeo’s live-events FAQ lists plan-dependent simultaneous-stream limits and a 12-hour limit per stream for the plans it names. What ON24’s YouTube support does—and does not—show
ON24’s Webcast Elite is described as supporting live, on-demand, simulive and sim-2-Live webinar presentations, along with audience engagement tools and conversion of a live webinar to on-demand. ON24 support also explains how to add a YouTube video to a webinar’s slide area; mobile viewers see a link rather than the embedded video in the desktop slide area. Its Engagement Hub can display external live YouTube and Vimeo content.

- Your format is a presenter-led, pre-recorded or hybrid event and Vimeo’s documented tools match the production you need.
Vimeo’s live-production product page describes RTMPS/SRT inputs, switchers and audience tools: Stream Live Events With Production and Audience Tools. Vimeo’s FAQ says a camera connected to a supported encoder is needed for live input. A more involved setup may use dedicated cameras, a switcher and an external encoder; a basic desk setup may use a USB webcam, though the cited documentation does not recommend a particular camera model.
