To change defaults that apply across sites, use More > Settings > Site settings. Google documents these menu paths for Android but does not tie them to a particular Chrome or Android version, so labels or available controls may vary by device.
Change permissions for the site you’re visiting
- Open Chrome on your Android phone or tablet and visit the website.
- Tap the site information control to the left of the address bar.
- Tap Permissions.
- Tap the permission you want to change, then choose a setting. To remove permissions set for that site, tap Reset permissions.
Google notes that a site-specific setting takes precedence over the default. As its Chrome Help instructions for Android put it: “You can set permissions for a site without changing your default settings.”

Change defaults for sites in general
- In Chrome, tap More (the three-dot menu), then Settings.
- Under Advanced, tap Site settings.
- Choose a permission or setting to review or change.
Depending on what your device and Chrome version support, the listed controls can include location, camera, microphone, motion sensors, notifications, JavaScript, pop-ups and redirects, intrusive ads, background sync, automatic downloads, protected content, sound, data stored, NFC, USB, clipboard, virtual reality, augmented reality, third-party sign-in, desktop site, on-device site data and local network access. The Android help page does not promise that every control appears on every device.
View or clear a site’s cookies and stored data
While visiting a site, open its site information view and choose Cookies and site data to review or delete data for that website. Cookies may keep you signed in or remember preferences; deleting them can sign you out and remove saved preferences. See Google’s instructions for managing cookies in Chrome on Android.

Cookies and on-device site data are related, but they are separate controls. To change the general on-device data setting, go to More > Settings > Site settings > On-device site data. Google explains that locally saved information can help a site work as expected—for example, by keeping a shopping cart active. Details are in Google’s explanation of on-device site data.
Find notification and pop-up controls
Notifications
For the general notification setting, go to More > Settings > Site settings > Notifications. For a particular website, use its site information control and tap Permissions. Chrome may remove notification permission for sites you have not visited for a while and alert you when it does; see Google’s Android notification instructions.

Pop-ups and redirects
To manage the general setting, go to More > Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects. Chrome blocks pop-ups by default. If it blocks a pop-up you need, Google also documents a site-specific option to allow it. Follow Google’s instructions for blocking or allowing pop-ups on Android.

If a single website behaves differently from the general default, check its per-site permission first. If you want to change how sites are handled generally, use Site settings instead.
