If you want a scooter with unmistakable Italian design heritage, the 2026 Vespa Primavera and Sprint S are two current options to compare. Piaggio says both receive updated wheels, digital dashboards and, on versions above 50 cc, keyless operation. That heritage describes design and brand history—not necessarily where an individual scooter was manufactured. Engine choices, safety equipment, licensing and availability also depend on the market, so start by checking the exact model sold where you live.
What makes the 2026 Primavera and Sprint S worth a look?
Piaggio Group’s March 17, 2026 announcement presents the Primavera as a classic, metropolitan scooter and the Sprint S as its sportier-looking counterpart. Those are the manufacturer’s style positions, not independent findings about handling or speed. Both models retain Vespa’s recognizable design while gaining updated equipment.

Which engine or powertrain is available where you live?
The announced range and a country’s actual lineup are not the same thing. Piaggio’s 2026 release lists petrol versions in 50, 125 and 150 cc, plus electric versions. It says electric moped versions have removable batteries. In the United States, Vespa’s store describes a different selection: 50, 150 or 310 cc, and says it does not sell a 125 cc model there.

What safety equipment should you check?
Brakes and ABS can vary by model, year and market. Piaggio’s 2026 release says that, for the first time on 125 and 150 cc small-body Vespas, a 220 mm steel rear disc operated by a dual-piston caliper replaces the rear drum. The release also describes a front disc and ABS for those versions. This is a manufacturer statement about the announced range; confirm the exact configuration on the scooter you are considering.

“For the first time on the 125 and 150 “small body” Vespas, the classic rear drum brake has been replaced by a 220 mm steel disc, operated by a dual-piston calliper.”
Vespa’s US pages provide model-specific braking information, but a general claim about one variant should not be applied to every scooter in the range. Check the local product specification for the front and rear brake setup and whether ABS is fitted. Wear a properly fitted helmet and check the current helmet requirements where you ride; the available product information does not establish a particular helmet’s certification or fit.

What should you check before buying?
A scooter that looks right on a product page still needs to suit your route, storage needs and local rules. Work through these checks before choosing a displacement or ordering accessories.
Recommended Free Tools
- Confirm local model availability. Ask a dealer which exact year, engine or electric version is sold in your market. Do not treat a range announced for another region as local inventory.
- Check licensing before choosing an engine. Vespa Store USA says a motorcycle license is always necessary for 150 cc or higher, while treatment of 50 cc scooters depends on the state. Rules can change; confirm current requirements with your state motor-vehicle authority before purchase or riding. Vespa Store USA FAQ
- Compare the complete cost. Get a dealer quote that includes applicable taxes, fees and the specific equipment supplied. The listed US prices are recommended retail prices excluding VAT, not a complete out-the-door comparison.
- Assess the everyday fit. Consider where you will park, whether you need passenger space, and how much storage your routine requires. For an electric version, check charging access and battery arrangements.
- Verify accessories by model year. Ask whether a top box, rack or windscreen fits the precise scooter you are buying; an accessory list does not establish universal fitment.
- Check ownership support. Compare nearby dealer access, warranty terms and parts availability. These details affect ownership but are not established by the cited product pages as a neutral, market-wide comparison.
Does Italian styling tell you where a scooter is made?
No. “Italian style” and Italian design heritage describe a design tradition or marque identity; they do not establish the manufacturing origin of a particular scooter. Verify origin from the documentation for the specific model if that matters to your decision.
